Who is Boothill in Honkai Star Rail?

Honkai Star Rail’s Boothill is described as a “cyborg cowboy drifting among the stars” and “extremely optimistic and unrestrained.”

On March 13, HoYoverse shared Boothill’s official character card, confirming he’s a Galaxy Ranger looking for revenge against the IPC. Boothill speaks to Black Swan during the Penacony storyline, teasing he’s coming to deal with Acheron and her lies.

Boothill release date in Honkai Star Rail

Boothill will debut in Honkai Star Rail on May 29, 2024, in the second phase of the 2.2 update, according to HSR‘s banner cycle.

His banner will arrive after Robin‘s and will feature Pela, Luka, and Hook as boosted units. Additionally, Fu Xuan will get a re-run of her banner as well.

Boothill leaked abilities in Honkai Star Rail

Boothill is a five-star Physical character in the Path of The Hunt in Honkai Star Rail. This means he’ll specialize in dealing damage to single-enemy targets. Currently, Sushang is the only character that shares Boothill’s element and Path, but she’s a four-star unit.

Here’s Boothill’s full kit, according to leaks:

  • Skullcrush Spurs (Basic ATK) – Deals Physical DMG to a single-target enemy.
  • Fanning the Hammer (Enhanced Basic ATK) – Deals Physical DMG to a single enemy target. For every stack of Pocket Trickshot, deals an additional hit. This attack cannot regenerate Energy. Fanning the Hammer can’t recover Skill Points, and can only target the enemy with Standoff.
  • Sizzlin’ Tango (Skill) – Activate Standoff for Boothill and a target enemy for 2 turns. When in Standoff, the enemy target is Taunted and Boothill’s Basic ATK is enhanced. When in Standoff, the enemy target and Boothill receive more DMG when attacked by the other unit. While the Skill can’t regenerate Energy, using the Skill doesn’t end Boothill’s turn.
  • Dust Devil’s Sunset Rodeo (Ultimate) – There is a 150% base chance to apply Physical Weakness to a target enemy for 2 turns. Then, deals Physical DMG to that target enemy and delays their action.
  • Five Peas in a Pod (Talent) – When the target with Standoff is defeated or Weakness Broken, dispels Standoff and Boothill receives 1 stack of Pocket Trickshot, up to 3 stacks. While using Fanning the Hammer, if the enemy is Weakness Broken, deals certain amount of Break DMG to this target, according to the Pocket Trickshot stacks. After winning the battle, Boothill can retain Pocket Advantage for the next battle.
  • 3-9x Smile (Technique) – After the Technique is used and when using Boothill’s Skill for the first time in the next battle, there is a 150% base chance to inflict Physical Weakness equal to the Ultimate to the target.

While Boothill’s abilities look powerful, it seems he’ll be one of those risky characters to use in the game, like Blade, Arlan, or Jingliu. Considering a new endgame mode is coming to HSR to put focus on Hunt units, Boothill might arrive just to dominate that meta.

Boothill leaked Eidolons in Honkai Star Rail

  • Dusty Trail’s Lone Star (E1) – At the start of battle, obtain 1 stack of Pocket Trickshot, allowing Boothill to deal DMG that ignores 16% of enemy target’s DEF.
  • Milestonemonger (E2) – When Pocket Trickshot is obtained via the Talent, regenerates 1 Skill Points and increases Break Effect by 30% for 2 turns. This effect will also be triggered when obtaining Pocket Trickshot stacks that exceed the max.
  • Marble Orchard’s Guard (E3) – Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic ATK Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10.
  • Cold Cuts Chef (E4) – When the enemy target in Standoff is attacked by Boothill, the DMG they receive increases by 12%. When Boothill is attacked by the enemy target in Standoff, the effect of receiving more DMG is reduced by 12% on him.
  • Stump Speech (E5) – Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15.
  • Crowbar Hotel’s Raccoon (E6) – When triggering the Talent’s Break DMG, additionally deals Break DMG to the target equal to 40% of the original DMG multiplier and deals additional Break DMG to adjacent targets as well.

E2 and E4 sound like game-changers for Boothill, so make sure you have enough Stellar Jade to pull for him when it comes out.
