Arlan is the head of the Herta Space Station security and a tricky four-star character in Honkai Star Rail. If you’re looking to add him to your team, here’s how to build him with the best Light Cone, Relics, and teams.

Honkai Star Rail players can meet Arlan early in the game while exploring Herta Space Station. Some sidequests help develop a relationship with him while getting interesting rewards. Lucky players might also pull him through the gacha system of HoYoverse’s RPG, but to take advantage of his abilities, it’s best to build him properly.

Arlan’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail explained

Arlan is a four-star Honkai Star Rail Lightning element character in the Path of The Destruction, which means he can deal a lot of damage and has great survivability. He’s boosted in the first phase of update 1.5 in Huohuo’s banner.

Here are all of Arlan’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail:

• Lightning Rush (Basic attack) – Deals Lightning DMG to a single enemy.
• Shackle Breaker (Skill) – Consumes 15% of Arlan’s Max HP to deal Lightning DMG to a single enemy. If Arlan has less than 15% of his Max HP, his HP will be reduced to 1 after using his Skill.
• Frenzied Punishment (Ultimate) – Deals a massive amount of Lightning DMG to the targeted enemy. Additionally, it also deals damage to adjacent enemies.
• Pain and Anger (Talent) – Increases Arlan’s DMG for every percent of HP below his Max HP. The maximum percentage of DMG Arlan can increase is 79.2%.
• Swift Harvest (Technique) – Immediately attacks the enemy. After entering battle, deals Lightning DMG to all enemies.

Arlan is all about dishing out damage, so you’ll want to improve his ATK alongside his CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. Increasing his SPD can also prove to be very valuable. Alternatively, since Arlan’s Skill can drain some of his HP, you might want to improve his HP and DEF to keep him in the battle for as long as you can. Alternatively, you can leave that up to a support character or healer.

Best Relics for Arlan in Honkai Star Rail

Band of Sizzling Thunder

• Two-piece bonus: Increases Lightning DMG by 10%.
• Four-piece bonus: When the wearer uses their Skill, increases the wearer’s ATK by 20% for one turn.

Band of Sizzling Thunder is the best Relic set for characters of the Lightning element in Honkai Star Rail. While the two-piece set increases Arlan’s DMG, having the full set makes his Skill more worthwhile.

Guard of Wuthering Snow

• Two-piece bonus: Reduces DMG taken by 8%.
• Four-piece bonus: If the wearer’s HP is equal to or less than 50% of their Max HP at the beginning of the turn, restores HP equal to 8% of their Max HP and regenerates 5 Energy.

As we mentioned, improving Arlan’s defenses can help him take less damage from enemies so he can keep using his Skill. Guard of Wuthering Snow can help with that while also healing him and regenerating energy to use the Ultimate as much as possible.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat

• Two-piece bonus: ATK increases by 10%.
• Four-piece bonus: The wearer’s SPD increases by 6% and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat is the easiest Relic set to get in the game. It works well with any character in the game but is especially good for characters like Arlan, tasked with being the main source of damage output in the team.

Best Planar Ornament for Arlan in Honkai Star Rail

Space Sealing Station is a Honkai Star Rail Planar Ornament that works great for DPS characters like Arlan. It increases Arlan’s ATK by 12% and, if his SPD reaches 120 or higher, increases his ATK by an additional 12%.

While that’s something you always look for with DPS characters, Celestial Differentiator is an interesting alternative for Arlan. This Planar Ornament increases his CRIT DMG by 16%. Additionally, when Arlan’s current CRIT DMG reaches 120% or higher, after entering battle, his CRIT Rate increases by 60% for his first attack.

On another note, Fleet of the Ageless increases Arlan’s Max HP by 12%, which is pretty good considering his abilities. Additionally, when the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, all allies’ ATK also increases by 8%.

Best Light Cone for Arlan in Honkai Star Rail

Something Irreplaceable

This is a great Light Cone for Honkai Star Rail characters in the Path of The Destruction like Arlan. Something Irreplaceable increases the wearer’s ATK. Moreover, when the wearer defeats an enemy or is hit, immediately restores HP. At the same time, the wearer’s DMG increases until the end of their next turn. This effect can only trigger one time per turn but is enough to make Arlan almost unstoppable.

On the Fall of an Aeon

Another Light Cone for characters in the Path of The Destruction increases Arlan’s ATK whenever he attacks. This effect can trigger up to four times per battle, but that’s not all. When Arlan inflicts Weakness Break on enemies, his DMG increases for two turns as well.

A Secret Vow

A Secret Vow is Arlan’s four-star signature Light Cone and it mostly increases DMG dealt between 20% and 40%. Additionally, the wearer also deals extra DMG to enemies with a higher HP percentage than the wearer, something that can turn the tide in a battle. However, the previous Light Cones are far better choices.

Best Honkai Star Rail teams for Arlan

As you might have guessed, if you have Arlan in Honkai Star Rail, he should be the main DPS on your team. Surrounding him with support characters and a shielder is a great strategy, but having a healer on the team can also be very helpful.

Tingyun and Bronya are two of the best supporting characters in the game and can increase Arlan’s ATK many times in a battle. Additionally, Tingyun’s Ultimate can also regenerate Arlan’s Energy, while Bronya’s Skill can make him take an extra turn with increased DMG.

March 7th can provide Arlan with shields while his HP gets depleted by his own attacks. Gepard can do the same with his Ultimate, so you have two shielders to choose from. The Fire Trailblazer is another great option for the role. If you prefer to round up your team with a healer, we recommend Natasha or Bailu since they can heal all allies at once with their Ultimate.

Alternatively, Fu Xuan can provide both shields and healing, so she can be a great ally for Arlan.
