Asta is a free-to-play character in Honkai Star Rail, so it’s always useful to know how to build her in case you need her help in battle. Here’s how to build Asta in HoYoverse’s RPG with the best Light Cones and Relics.

Honkai Star Rail players can get Asta very early in the game after beating the tutorial. However, not many stick with her after getting some of the most powerful characters in the game through the gacha system. While players focused on dealing damage and destroying enemies won’t see much use in Asta, she’s a valuable support unit who can turn the tide of any battle.

If you have Asta and you’re wondering how to build her, here’s everything you need, including the best Light Cones, Relic sets, and teammates for the character.

Asta’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail explained

Asta is a four-star Honkai Star Rail Fire element character in the Path of The Harmony. Characters in this Path are support characters that focus on enhancing their teammates’ abilities. Asta is currently boosted in the second phase of update 1.5 in Argenti’s banner, but you can pull her anytime from permanent banners as well.

Here are all of Asta’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail:

  • Spectrum Beam (Basic attack) – Deals Fire DMG to a single enemy.
  • Meteor Storm (Skill) – Deals Fire DMG to a single enemy and further deals DMG for four extra times to a random enemy.
  • Astral Blessing (Ultimate) – Increases SPD of all allies by 36–51.4 for two turns.
  • Astrometry (Talent) – Gains one stack of Charging for every different enemy hit by Asta, and an extra stack if the enemy hit has Fire Weakness. For every stack of Charging Asta has, all allies’ ATK increases, up to five times.
  • Miracle Flash (Technique) – Immediately attacks the enemy. After entering battle, deals Fire DMG to all enemies.

Apart from inflicting Fire weakness on enemies, there isn’t much use in improving Asta’s DMG output. Instead, you should focus on enhancing her HP so she doesn’t fall easily in battle. Her Ultimate is one of her most important abilities, so improving her Energy Regen is another priority for Asta. Her SPD is also important and can make a huge difference, so keep that in mind.

Best Relics for Asta in Honkai Star Rail

Messenger Traversing Hackerspace

  • Two-piece bonus: Increases SPD by 6%.
  • Four-piece bonus: When the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally, SPD for all allies increases by 12% for one turn. This effect cannot be stacked.

As we mentioned, improving Asta’s SPD in Honkai Star Rail can make a huge difference. What’s more, if you get the whole Messenger Traversing Hackerspace Relic set, you’ll make her Ultimate even more effective.

Longevous Disciple

  • Two-piece bonus: Increases Max HP by 12%.
  • Four-piece bonus: When the wearer is hit or has their HP consumed by an ally or themselves, their CRIT Rate increases by 8% for two turns and up to two stacks.

In the case of Longevous Disciple, we recommend getting a two-piece set. The effect of the whole set bonus won’t make a difference on Asta, and you can use the remaining slots for another two-piece set, like Messenger Traversing Hackerspace.

Sadly, there aren’t many Relic Sets focused on support characters yet, so these two options are the only viable alternatives for Asta in the game.

Best Planar Ornament for Asta in Honkai Star Rail

Broken Keel is a great Planar Ornament for Asta in Honkai Star Rail. It can keep her safe by increasing her Effect RES by 10%. Additionally, when her Effect RES is at 30% or higher, all allies’ CRIT DMG increases by 10%. This gives her even more relevance in battle, aside from the support abilities from her kit.

Sprightly Vonwacq can also be a great alternative for Asta. This Planar Ornament increases her Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. What’s more, when her SPD reaches 120 or higher, her action is Advanced Forward by 40% immediately upon entering battle. This means she can cast her Ultimate and enhance her teammates more often.

Lastly, Fleet of the Ageless is another interesting option in this case. It increases the wearer’s Max HP by 12%, and when the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, all allies’ ATK increases by 8%. Like with Brokel Keel, this allows Asta to give teammates more support beyond her own abilities in the game.

Best Light Cone for Asta in Honkai Star Rail

But the Battle Isn’t Over

Since Bronya is the best support character in Honkai Star Rail, it’s no wonder her signature Light Cone is ideal for all supports. But the Battle Isn’t Over increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate and regenerates 1 Skill Point when they use their Ultimate on an ally. This effect can be triggered after every two uses of the wearer’s Ultimate. If you build Asta properly, she can take advantage of this Light Cone.

Additionally, when the wearer uses their Skill, the next ally taking action deals more DMG for one turn. This can make a huge difference in battle.

Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds

Although this is an unpredictable Light Cone, it could work very well with Asta. With it, one of the following effects is applied randomly at the start of combat and whenever the wearer takes action:

  • Increase all allies’ ATK by 10~20%
  • Increase all allies’ CRIT DMG by 12~24%
  • Increase all allies’ Energy Regeneration Rate by 6~12%

The applied effect cannot be the same twice in a row, and every effect replaces the previous one every time Asta takes action. While it’s not a very traditional Light Cone, all of the effects are very useful for Asta, so you should keep this Light Cone in mind.

Memories of the Past

This Light Cone increases the wearer’s Break Effect for starters. Additionally, when the wearer attacks, it regenerates 4~8 Energy, which is ideal for Asta. This effect can only be triggered one time per turn, but it’s more than enough to allow Asta to spam her Ultimate.

Best Honkai Star Rail teams for Asta

With Asta as support in your Honkai Star Rail team, you should pair her with a powerful DPS. You’ll need a healer, as always, but the fourth character can be either another support or a shielder.

Some of the best DPS characters to pair with Asta are Seele, Himeko, and Sushang. Asta’s abilities can make these characters take action in battle more often, meaning you won’t need another DPS or Sub-DPS on your team.

If you’re going for another support character, Pela or Silver Wolf can weaken enemies while Asta buffs your whole team. On the other hand, you can also pick Tingyun or Yukong to further improve your DPS’ damage output and make them unstoppable. Alternatively, you can also choose to include a shielder like Gepard or the Fire Trailblazer to ensure the team doesn’t take too much damage.

For your healer, your choices are the standard options. Natasha is the only one you can get without spending Stellar Jade in the game, but if you pulled Luocha, Bailu, or Huohuo, they could work well too.
