Dr. Ratio’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail explained

Dr. Ratio is a five-star Honkai Star Rail Imaginary element character in the Path of The Hunt. This means he’s a damage dealer who focuses on single-target enemies. Dr. Ratio is currently boosted in the second phase of update 1.6 in his own banner.

Below are all of Ruan Mei’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail:

  • Mind is Might (Basic attack) – Deals Imaginary DMG to a single enemy.
  • Intellectual Midwifery (Skill) – Deals more Imaginary DMG to a single target enemy.
  • Syllogistic Paradox (Ultimate) – Deals a huge amount of Imaginary DMG to a single target enemy and applies Wiseman’s Folly. When allies attack a target with Wiseman’s Folly, Dr. Ratio launches his Talent’s follow-up attack against this target. Wiseman’s Folly can be triggered up to two times and only affects the most recent target of Dr. Ratio’s Ultimate. When Dr. Ratio’s Ultimate is used, the trigger count resets.
  • Cogito, Ergo Sum (Talent) – When using his Skill, Dr. Ratio has a 40% chance of launching a follow-up attack against this target one time. Additionally, for each debuff the target enemy has, the chance of launching a follow-up attack increases by 20%. On the other hand, if the target enemy is defeated before the follow-up attack triggers, it will be directed at a random enemy instead.
  • Mold of Idolatry (Technique) – After using Technique, creates a special dimension that Taunts nearby enemies for 10 seconds. After entering battle with enemies in this special dimension, reduce each single enemy target’s SPD by 15% for 2 turns.

As a character in the Path of The Hunt, Dr. Ratio is all about dealing damage with powerful attacks. This means you should focus on improving his CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG alongside his ATK% and Imaginary DMG. His SPD stat isn’t that great, so you might want to enhance it as well.

Regarding his kit, Dr. Ratio’s Talent is by far the most important ability to consider, since his follow-up attack deals more damage than his Basic ATK and Skill. When upgrading Traces, we recommend focusing on his Talent as well as his Ultimate for better results.

Best Relics for Dr. Ratio in Honkai Star Rail

Wastelander of Banditry Desert

  • Two-piece bonus: Increases Imaginary DMG by 10%.
  • Four-piece bonus: When attacking debuffed enemies, the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 10% and their CRIT DMG increases by 20% against Imprisoned enemies.

Wastelander of Banditry Desert seems tailor-made for Dr. Ratio. His follow-up attack has a higher chance of landing when the enemy has debuffs, so it can be a great option for the character. However, other Relic sets can complement this one if you decide to go for a two-piece set.

The Ashblazing Grand Duke

  • Two-piece bonus: Increases the DMG dealt by follow-up attacks by 20%.
  • Four-piece bonus: When the wearer uses follow-up attacks, increases the wearer’s ATK by 6% every time the follow-up attack deals DMG. This effect can stack up to 8 times and lasts for 3 turns. The effect is removed the next time the wearer uses a follow-up attack.

Since Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack is the key element of his kit in Honkai Star Rail, The Ashblazing Grand Duke set also works great for him. You can choose to go with the full set to also increase his ATK or you can opt for a two-piece set to combine its effects with other powerful Relics.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat

  • Two-piece bonus: ATK increases by 12%.
  • Four-piece bonus: The wearer’s SPD increases by 6% and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.

As usual, Musketeer of Wild Wheat is a good option if you don’t have better alternatives. This Relic set can also improve Dr. Ratio’s SPD in battle, so keep that in mind.

Best Planar Ornament for Dr. Ratio in Honkai Star Rail

Inert Salsotto is the go-to Planar Ornament for Dr. Ratio in Honkai Star Rail. It increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%, for starters. However, here’s the best part: when his current CRIT Rate reaches 50% or higher, his Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG increases by 15%. Again, considering Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack is his best ability, this should be your top pick.

However, if you’re more focused on improving Dr. Ratio’s DMG output, Firmament Frontline: Glamoth might be best for you. This Planar Ornament increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%, and when the wearer’s SPD is equal to or higher than 135/160, the wearer deals 12%/18% more DMG.

Lastly, Space Sealing Station increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%, and when the wearer’s SPD reaches 120, it increases it by another 12%.

While all these options work great with DPS characters, keep in mind what stats and abilities you’re improving with other Relics and the Light Cone to make a better decision.

Best Light Cone for Dr. Ratio in Honkai Star Rail

Baptism of Pure Thought

All five-star Honkai Star Rail characters have their signature Light Cone, and Dr. Ratio is no exception. Baptism of Pure Thought increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG, for starters. Then, for every debuff on the enemy target, the wearer’s CRIT DMG dealt against this target increases as well, stacking up to 3 times.

And that’s not all; when using their Ultimate to attack the enemy target, the wearer receives the Disputation effect, which also increases DMG dealt and enables their follow-up attacks to ignore part of the target’s DEF. This effect lasts for 2 turns. This Light Cone enhances almost every aspect of Dr. Ratio’s kit, so you should try to get it while you can.

Worrisome, Blissful

Worrisome, Blissful is the only other Light Cone that enhances follow-up attacks. It increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by up to 30% and their follow-up attacks’ DMG by up to 50%. After the wearer uses a follow-up attack, applies the Tame state to the target, stacking up to 2 stacks. When allies hit enemy targets under that state, every Tame stack increases the CRIT DMG dealt by up to 20%.

In the Night

Seele‘s Light Cone increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by up to 30%. Additionally, while the wearer is in battle, for every 10 SPD that exceeds 100, the DMG of the Basic ATK and Skill is increased by up to 10% and the CRIT DMG of the Ultimate is increased by up to 20%. This effect can stack up to 6 times.

All in all, if you haven’t pulled for five-star Light Cones recently, any option for characters of The Hunt will work great for Dr. Ratio by enhancing either his CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, or ATK.

Best Honkai Star Rail teams for Dr. Ratio

As one of the most powerful DPS in Honkai Star Rail, Dr. Ratio can be placed in many different team compositions. However, it’s recommended to have at least one Nihility character that can apply debuffs to enemies for Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack to shine.

That’s not possible in a free-to-play team because there are no free Nihility characters, so we recommend having two supports, like Asta and Yukong, alongside a healer, like Natasha or Lynx, to focus all your efforts in buffing Dr. Ratio.

On the other hand, it’s best to pair Dr. Ratio with Silver Wolf and a healer like Luocha or Huohuo to ensure his follow-up attacks are constantly flying. It’s also worth noting that Topaz has a great synergy with characters that can launch follow-up attacks, so you might consider having two powerful DPS in your team.

And there you have it! That’s all you need to know to build Dr. Ratio in Honkai Star Rail. If you’re looking for more tips and guides, check our other articles below:
