Having a hard time deciding whether or not you should sell or salvage your Diablo 4 weapons and gear? Here’s our advice on the matter.

Diablo 4 players will accumulate a lot of items while playing through the campaign, and as you level up and find better weapons and gear, you may be wondering what to do with your old stuff.

Luckily, there are a couple of helpful options in game, as players can either sell or salvage their weapons and gear. However, that said, depending on your needs, you’ll want to know the benefits of each of these methods and which one makes the most sense.

Salvaging an item allows you to scrap it in exchange for materials and upgrade equipment while selling it will simply give you gold.

Here’s our recommendation for whether you should sell or salvage your weapons and gear in Diablo 4.

Sell or salvage Diablo 4 gear?

Players should balance both selling and salvaging gear in Diablo 4, so here are our recommendations.

We recommend that players salvage their old weapons and gear if they are rare or a higher rarity tier, as this will provide you with upgrading materials to make your best weapons even better.

It’s also important to note that salvaging gear that you have put gems on will give you those gems back for free, but if you sell it, you will lose those gems. So, we recommend salvaging any loot you have put gems onto.

That said, selling items is also something you should do, especially early on before you build up your gold. Upgrading your items doesn’t just cost upgrade materials, but also gold, so it’s good to find a balance between salvaging and selling.

Players should aim to utilize both selling and salvaging in Diablo 4.

We found that selling low-rarity magic items is an easy way to get money and save up inventory space, while salvaging higher-rarity weapons and gear will give you a chance to earn some rare upgrade materials which could better your gear greatly.

If you are early on in the game, you may not find the highest rarity of loot, but it’s still good to salvage items in order to become stronger, as this will give you the necessary materials to improve your gear.

Follow this guideline for selling and salvaging items in Diablo 4, and as time goes on, you will start to understand what is worth salvaging and what is worth selling.
