According to a report from industry insider Tom Henderson, Warzone’s fan-favorite Verdansk map is set to make a triumphant return with Call of Duty 2024, which is expected to be titled Black Ops Gulf War.

Call of Duty: Warzone has undergone several transformations over the years, with Call of Duty titles offering new battle royale maps to tackle each year. Recently, players received the brand-new Urzikstan map alongside Modern Warfare 3 Season 1.

Despite the Urzikstan map and Warzone Season 1 gameplay being well-received, some players are wondering if maps from Warzone’s past will make a return at some point. While we know that the fan-favorite Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep are scheduled to return “early 2024,” it’s Warzone’s first map that players are most curious about.

Verdansk is by far the most admired Warzone map to date and on December 8, a new report from industry insider Tom Henderson revealed that it could be set for a major return with the release of the next premium Call of Duty title.

According to Henderson Verdansk will be the big Warzone map tied to Call of Duty 2024‘s integration, which is reportedly titled Black Ops Gulf War. “Whilst details are still unclear on the exact release date of the map, it’s understood that the current plan is to follow the traditional Warzone ‘main map’ release schedule and have Verdansk return as a part of Black Ops Gulf War Season 1,” wrote Henderson.

CharlieIntel has also independently corroborated this information and has heard Verdansk is the planned big map for Warzone in 2024.

While there’s no concrete release date mentioned in the report, it does suggest that if CoD 2024 follows the traditional November release, then it’s likely that “Verdansk is set to return in December 2024.”

While news of Verdansk returning is sure to excite long-time Warzone fans, it’s important to keep in mind that MW3 and Warzone Urzikstan’s cycle has just started, so there’s still a long way to go before we get any sort of look at an updated version of the classic map.
