Warzone players claim Verdansk will “fail” if released without major changes

The Warzone community has been desperate for Verdansk to return for years, but players are worried that the iconic map wouldn’t live up to the hype due to the many new features that have been added to the game in recent times.

Warzone has undergone plenty of evolutions since arriving in 2020, to the point that it looks and feels very different from how it did four years ago. In the Season 2 Reloaded update alone, we saw the arrival of the new Bunker Buster Killstreak as well as plenty of tweaks to key features.

But despite the new content coming thick and fast, players are still desperate to visit those glory days. Luckily, Rebirth Island is confirmed to return in 2024, while leaks have also hinted that the legendary Verdansk will also resurface with the next Black Ops game.

However, Warzone players are concerned that a return to the OG map wouldn’t recapture the magic, as the new mechanics added to the game would make it a much different experience.

Reddit user ‘TheEscortGamer’ shared a post claiming that “Verdansk will fail if [the] player counts stays at 100,” before taking aim at the many respawn options that have been added in the years since launch.

“Can already see it now, the game won’t flow like it did back then. When it returns we need the OG vehicle mobility, none of this boaty s**t…” said the OP. “No flares, redeploy pack, gulag kits or ‘try again’ gulags… give us that WZ feeling back.”

Plenty of other Warzone players responded to the post, agreeing that the game is full of features that they’d like to see removed before heading back to Verdansk.

“I hate the redeploy features, flat loot, and many other things, but I think the biggest issue is the map (specifically water) and the backpack system,” argued another reply. “I think the water is the worst mechanic they’ve created.”

However, fans weren’t optimistic that the devs would hear their concerns if and when the map does return, as they used Fortune’s Keep as an example of an old map coming back but not as they remember.

“They will 100% add all that garbage to Verdansk. Probably a drivable train too,” said one reply, while another added: “They’ll do what they did to fortunes keep. Completely change half the POIs. It’s not gonna be what we remember. Hopefully they do it well.”

There’s no official word yet on whether Verdansk will make a comeback, but if it does, it’s sure to be a major event. In the meantime, be sure to check out where we rank it among the other Warzone maps.
