Normal-type Pokemon are extremely tricky to use and face in battles, so here’s all you need to know about their weaknesses, resistances, strengths, and best counters to beat them.

Among the 18 Pokemon types, the Normal-type species are the most difficult to use in battles. But, knowing their weaknesses and strengths can help you ace them, and even beat strong Legendaries in Pokemon Go or Scarlet and Violet.

If you want to master using Normal-type Pokemon, here are its weaknesses, resistances, strengths, and best species to defeat them.

Normal-type Pokemon weaknesses

Pure Normal-type Pokemon are only weak to Fighting-type attacks.

That said, keep in mind that dual-type species can remove this weakness. For example, the popular Wigglytuff is a Normal/Fairy-type, so it’s not weak to Fighting-type moves as its part Fairy-type resists them and gains other weaknesses, including Poison and Steel-type attacks.

Normal-type Pokemon resistances

Normal-type Pokemon have no resistances but are immune to Ghost-type moves in the mainline games. Remember that Pokemon Go has no immunities, so Normal types resist Ghost-type attacks in the mobile game.

Normal-type Pokemon strengths

Normal-type Pokemon do not deal super-effective damage to any species and are the only types with this mechanic.

But, what makes Normal types dangerous in the main series games is the 80 base power Priority Physical move Extreme Speed, which hits first no matter how fast the opponent is. Many Pokemon take on the Normal Tera Type and use this move after boosting their Attack stat with Dragon Dance or Swords Dance.

I’ve used this strategy extensively with Dragonite having Dragon Dance, or with Arceus having Swords Dance to beat multiple opponents effortlessly. But, Normal-type moves do zero damage to Ghost Pokemon, so I always keep another move handy to take them out.
