Mastering the Legendary Kyogre can help you win any Pokemon battle easily, so here are its weaknesses, resistances, strengths, and best moves.

You can catch several Legendaries in the Indigo Disk DLC of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but hardly any of them are as powerful as the Sea Basin Pokemon, Kyogre.

This mighty Water-type Legendary is one of the biggest threats in the meta and by knowing how to use it well, even the toughest battles would be a breeze for you.

So, here’s all about the weaknesses, resistances, strengths, and best moves for Kyogre to dominate Pokemon battles.

Kyogre weaknesses explained in Pokemon

As it’s a pure Water-type Pokemon, Kyogre is only weak to Electric and Grass-type attacks.

That said, with a jaw-dropping 150 Special Defense stat complemented by 100 HP and 90 Defense, getting a KO on Kyogre is extremely difficult. Most Grass and Electric-type moves I’ve faced with Kyogre in hundreds of battles were Special Attacks, so these two weaknesses are never really a bother.

Still, I’d recommend switching out Kyogre against the likes of Miraidon, Raging Bolt, and Iron Hands as it’s always better to keep this Legendary around for later in the battle. In fact, the strategy of starting the match with it and then keeping it for the end can earn you several wins.

Kyogre resistances explained in Pokemon

Kyogre’s resistances in Pokemon include Fire, Ice, Steel, and Water-type attacks.

All these four Pokemon types are extremely strong, making Kyogre an asset against powerhouses like Chi-Yu, Chien-Pao, Walking Wake, Metagross, and opposing Kyogre among others.

Kyogre strengths explained in Pokemon

Kyogre deals super-effective damage to Fire, Ground, and Rock-type Pokemon with STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) Water-type moves.

Its biggest USP is the Drizzle ability, which brings down Rain when Kyogre enters the battlefield. Rain weakens Fire-type moves by 50% while also boosting damage from Water-type moves by 50%. Not to mention, its Special Attack stat is a jaw-dropping 150!

In most battles, I’ve used the Held Item Choice Specs, an Adamant nature, and Water Tera Type to help Kyogre outspeed most threats and dish out mind-boggling damage figures.

Also, thanks to its impressive resistances and offensive coverage, I’ve found Kyogre to be a great teammate to Dragon-type Pokemon like Walking Wake and Raging Bolt.

Best Kyogre moves in Pokemon

The best moves for Kyogre in Pokemon are Water Spout, Origin Pulse, Ice Beam, and Thunder.

  • Water Spout is an incredibly strong move with a whopping 150 base power and 100% accuracy. The only catch is that its power decreases if Kyogre is at low HP. So, use Water Spout when you bring out Kyogre until its HP goes down.
  • When Kyogre’s HP is low, you can go with the 110 base power Origin Pulse for Water-type damage. But, keep in mind that this move is 85% accurate.
  • Ice Beam is a handy move that eliminates the OP Dragon and Flying types while also handling one of Kyogre’s weaknesses, Grass-type opponents.
  • Thunder is a powerful 110 base power Electric-type move that is normally only 70% accurate but can’t miss under Rain, making it super convenient for Kyogre. It also has a 30% chance of paralyzing the opponent.
