Honkai Star Rail keeps adding interesting characters for players to try out while it expands its lore with new storylines and special events. After Dan Heng – Imbibitor Lunae and Fu Xuan‘s debuts, HoYoverse has been teasing some of the characters that will arrive very soon.
Topaz is one of those characters and, like Jingliu, she already has a big fanbase waiting to see her in action. We’ll go through everything we know about the character so far, including her leaked abilities, release date, and more.

Who is Topaz in Honkai Star Rail?
Topaz is the Senior Manager of the Strategic Investment Department in the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC) and leader of the Special Debts Picket Team in Honkai Star Rail.
HoYoverse revealed her official character card, where she’s joined by her pet Trotter Numby. According to its description, it’s “capable of acutely perceiving where riches are located” and “it can even perform jobs involving security, debt collection, and actuarial sciences.”
HoYoverse shared Topaz’s character card on August 16, so players expect her to arrive in the game fairly soon. What’s more, it’s been confirmed she’ll play an important role in the next Trailblaze Mission.
Topaz release date in Honkai Star Rail
Topaz will debut in Honkai Star Rail with the version 1.4 update that’s coming out on October 11, 2023. She’s expected to debut in the second phase of the update alongside Guinaifen around October 29.
HoYoverse revealed the version 1.4 update will have a shorter duration, spanning five weeks instead of six. This means banners will also have shorter durations, so keep that in mind to know when to pull for your favorite characters.
All Honkai Star Rail Topaz leaked abilities
In terms of gameplay, Topaz is a five-star Fire character in the Path of The Hunt in Honkai Star Rail. These characters specialize in dealing lots of damage to a single enemy and they’re usually the main DPS in a team.
According to different leaks, these are Topaz’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail:
- Deficit… (Basic ATK) – Deals Fire DMG to a single enemy target.
- Difficulty Paying? (Skill) – Casts a single enemy target under “Attack Mark.” Enemy targets under “Attack Mark” receive more damage from follow-up attacks. However, only one enemy target can be under “Attack Mark” at a time. When the current enemy target with “Attack Mark” is defeated, Topaz then casts “Attack Mark” to another random enemy on the field. Additionally, Numby deals Fire DMG to the enemy target, and this counts as a follow-up attack.
- Turn a Profit! (Ultimate) – Numby enters into a state of “Astonishing Increase,” making its SPD, Crit Rate, and Damage Multiplier increase. Then, Numby attacks twice before ending the “Astonishing Increase” state.
- Pig Market?! (Talent) – When the battle begins, summon Numby. Numby starts with a determined SPD, and when it attacks, immediately does a follow-up attack, dealing Fire DMG to an enemy target with “Attack Mark.” If there are no enemy targets with “Attack Mark” on the field, Topaz then casts it to a random enemy.
- Explicit Subsidy (Technique) – When Topaz enters battle, she signals Numby to follow suit. Numby will automatically find Basic Treasures and Warp Trotters within a specific range. When Technique is used, in the next battle, Topaz recovers points of energy after Numby’s first attack.
As you can see, Topaz and Numby can be interesting additions to your team while exploring and battling enemies. It also seems like Numby does all the heavy lifting. This will probably be perfectly captured by Honkai Star Rail’s particular humor if Topaz is meant to be a big player in the RPG’s next storyline.
HoYoverseTopaz leaked Light Cone in Honkai Star Rail
Like most five-star characters, Topaz will get a signature Light Cone when she debuts in Honkai Star Rail. Here’s the leaked description of her five-star Light Cone:
Worrisome, Blissful
Increases Crit DMG of the wearer and increases damage dealt by follow-up attacks as well. After the wearer casts an attack, if it hits an enemy target that was previously hit in their previous attack, they will gain one layer of [Vitality Food]. If it hits another enemy, the stack of [Vitality Food] will drop. Each stack of [Vitality Food] will increase the wearer’s ATK, and the effect can be stacked up a couple of times.
It sounds like Topaz’s new Light Cone can be a great tool to deal with Elites and Bosses in Honkai Star Rail.
Keep in mind that none of this information has been officially confirmed by the devs. And even if it’s accurate, it’s subject to change until Topaz’s debut in the game.
