Valorant developers conduct a map rotation every season to keep the competitive pool fresh. Here’s everything you need to know about the Valorant map rotation in Episode 8 Act 2.

Although Valorant has 10 maps in the competitive modes, not all of them are available in the current pool rotation. Thanks to these active rotations, players can only play on a select few of them. However, Riot issued an emergency statement and only six maps are currently available in the competitive rotation.

On that note, check out all the Valorant maps currently available in competitive modes in Episode 8 Act 2.

Is there a date for next Valorant map rotation?

No, Riot Games have not yet confirmed when the next map rotation will be in Valorant. The last map rotation arrived in January 2024, so we expect that the next rotation will arrive in June 2024 with the release of Episode 9.

All Valorant competitive maps in Episode 8 Act 2

After the arrival of Sunset in September 2023, Valorant’s map pool expanded to 10 available maps. However, as mentioned above, not all maps are eligible in competitive game modes.

Here’s the list of the six maps currently available in all Valorant Episode 8 Act 2 competitive modes:

  • Ascent
  • Bind
  • Breeze
  • Icebox
  • Lotus
  • Sunset

The following maps are not available in the map pool as of Episode 8 Act 2

  • Pearl
  • Fracture
  • Haven
  • Split

Valorant’s devs have removed Split from competitive rotation, but the map is expected to return on Patch 8.08.

Why was Split removed from Valorant map pool rotation?

Riot decided to temporarily remove Split from Valorant’s competitive map pool due to two bugs found by the devs.

The first one involved Cypher’s Trapwire, which displays his Trapwires on the minimap of his teammates after he has died. If this were the only issue, the most suitable solution would be to disable Cypher from competitive play.

However, the second problem was even more significant as it involved a wall boost exploit that has been gaining popularity in Valorant matches.

Jett using Valorant's Split exploit
Split was removed but it’s expected to return with Valorant Update 8.08.

To use this exploit, players would position themselves at the entrance of the A Site with Raze or Jett. Using their mobility abilities, they could propel themselves toward an invisible wall at the highest point, creating an overpowered off-angle as shown in the image above.

Valorant map pool rotation explained

Every time Riot release a new Episode in Valorant, some of the maps are removed from the map pool while some are added to the rotation.

This is done to keep the competitive mode fresh and make the learning curve less stressful for players. All maps in the game have their unique line-ups, so if there are 10 maps in the pool, knowing all of them can be hectic for players.

Not only does it reduce the stress on players but it also makes it easy for new players to get a hang of the maps and how to navigate through them in the competitive mode.

That’s all you need to know about the Valorant map pool rotation. We’ll make sure to keep you informed as soon as Riot reveal the next map rotation.
