Pokemon Go is teasing new features coming in 2024, and players are convinced fusions are on their way to the mobile game.

Pokemon Go adds new game mechanics, NPCs and features fairly often to keep the experience fresh for players all around the world. In 2023, players were able to discover Shadow Raids, Routes, Party Play, and more, and recent leaks suggest even more exciting features are coming very soon.

Niantic confirmed Necrozma will finally debut during Pokemon Go Fest 2024, and it seems like the Legendary Pokemon will bring with it fusions, a highly-requested game mechanic.

Leaker The Pokemod Group shared new texts recently added to Pokemon Go’s code with the latest April update that hint at fusions making their way to the game. Among the Pokemon species mentioned in the texts, Necrozma, Lunala, and Solgaleo stand out, but there are also mentions of Kyurem, Zekrom, Reshiram, and Gen 8’s Calyrex.

Necrozma will finally debut in Pokemon Go alongside its shiny form, but it seems like players will also be able to get Dusk Mane Necrozma (fusion with Solgaleo) and Dawn Wings Necrozma (fusion with Lunala).

Since all we have are mentions of these highly-anticipated fusions, we still don’t know how players will be able to get them. The Pokemod Group revealed players won’t be able to trade these fused Pokemon, and they also anticipated fusions will have some connection to Raids. Since all Pokemon mentioned in leaks are Legendaries, it isn’t surprising.

Interestingly, White Kyurem and Black Kyurem were accidentally added in December 2023 as Go Battle League rewards in Pokemon Go. Some players managed to add the Legendary to their Pokedex, but it was later removed by Niantic, who compensated trainers with tons of items. This could mean Niantic is more than ready to introduce fusions but is waiting for Necrozma’s debut to do it properly.

Keep an eye on our coverage to know when fusions are coming to Pokemon Go. In the meantime, you can check how to beat the Pokemon Go Kleavor Raid or the best Pokemon TCG decks in 2024.
