Despite only being in Open Beta, Embark Studios have announced a Halloween event for The Finals, surprising players on PC and console.

The Finals is Embark Studios’ upcoming free-to-play FPS game with a lot of depth. The fast-paced title’s Open Beta for PC and consoles has been picking up traction, even topping Call of Duty on Steam’s player count chart.

Despite only being in beta, there’s a lot to master in The Finals, including three Contestant builds, Light, Medium, and Heavy, as well as many weapon options.

That said, the devs have announced a Halloween event for The Finals Open Beta, leaving players surprised and praising the devs for their continued efforts with the beta. Here’s everything you need to know about The Finals Halloween event, including the start date and more.

The Finals Halloween event release date & content

The Finals Halloween event arrives on October 31, 2023, as the devs announced the spooky takeover with a new trailer.

In the trailer, spooky changes can be seen on the Monaco map, as well as new free Halloween-themed cosmetics. According to the trailer’s YouTube description, it seems these Halloween map changes can be seen on Monaco “in certain weather conditions.”

The conditions shown in the trailer are foggy and nighttime, so perhaps this is the recipe for the Halloween takeover. New free cosmetics have also been added to the in-game store, including the “Halloween Scene” bundle, which includes a Pumpkinhead, Witch’s hat, and more.

There’s also the Stealth Specter and Bony Boo bundles, which are all free for players to obtain and include some spooky outfits for the Halloween season.

Players are surprised and ecstatic about The Finals Open Beta Halloween event, as one comment under their X post read, “I didn’t even expect the devs to work on a Halloween event for the Beta. Nice surprise, well done!”

Meanwhile, under their YouTube trailer, another comment agreed, “I can’t believe they bring us a halloween event in a Open Beta without a confirmed release date for the final game. Awesome.”

Many other comments also expressed surprise and admiration towards a Halloween event being added in The Finals Open Beta, with some also praising the devs for their work on the game:

“Damn, I thought the beta was already too good to be true and now a Halloween event! This game is amazing, and has so much potential. The teamplay the game demands for success is something I’ve never really felt before. Keep up the amazing work!”

The beta is set to end on November 5, 2023, so if you haven’t already, make sure you jump in and check out our best PC and controller settings for The Finals to get a headstart.
