Diablo 4 Rogue class preview

Diablo 4’s developers haven’t been shy in hinting they’ll be adding more classes to the game. Fans are expecting it to come in the Diablo 4 DLCs, although a date hasn’t been set yet. Here’s everything you need to know about Diablo 4’s new classes.

Diablo 4 players are eagerly waiting for new character classes to arrive. Ever since Art Director John Mueller hinted that “there’s always room around the campfire,” referring to the character selection screen, fans have been speculating which type of character would be added to the world of Sanctuary.

There are currently five character classes to pick from in Diablo 4’s character creation screen: Barbarian, Rogue, Sorcerer, Necromancer, and Druid. Since Blizzard confirmed that users can expect Diablo 4 to introduce a DLC, the fan community is speculating about the return of one of the much-beloved character classes from the franchise.

It’s important to note that Blizzard haven’t officially confirmed that they could be adding any more character classes to play, although fans are disappointed that Diablo 4 is the only edition to introduce only returning classes without new mechanics. If you’re eager to know which will be the sixth class that could be added to Sanctuary, we’ve got you covered. Here are the characters who are more likely to return to Diablo 4 DLC.

What new classes could be introduced in Diablo 4?

Fans are intrigued by the class seen in this official pre-release artwork of Diablo 4.

Rumors have been floating around in the Diablo 4 Reddit community as fans debate which class could be introduced to Sanctuary. Some players are hopeful for the return of classic characters such as the Paladin and have even pointed out that this class has been spotted in the official pre-launch artwork.

While we wait for more clues regarding the future of Diablo 4, and we adjust to everything that Season of Malignant has in store for Sanctuary, we’ll show you which classes players would like to see in the next DLC.

Blood Knight (Diablo Immortal)

Blood Knights are the latest addition to Diablo Immortal, the mobile edition of the famous franchise. Blizzard released this class at the same time they announced Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant, which has fans thinking that devs might be preparing it to be the sixth Diablo 4 character class.

Crusader (Diablo 3/Diablo Immortal)

Diablo 3 Crusader
Crusaders are a mix of Barbarian and Paladin, although focused on holy spell-casting in Diablo 3.

The Crusader is a class that is a hybrid between tank and spell caster that could fit well in Diablo 4’s Sanctuary. Even though the main quest is riddled with knights of the Cathedral of Light, Crusaders could be an interesting anomaly that matches the narrative.

Paladin (Diablo 2)

Diablo 2 Paladin
Fans are almost sure that the next character class introduced in Diablo 4 will be Paladins.

It’s true that the world of Sanctuary is in dire need of holy warriors. Paladins are melee-orientated fighters that use holy auras to boost their strength and cast ferocious attacks on demonic entities. But even if Diablo 4 doesn’t have Paladins as a class, it does have several quests involving members of its holy order trying to defend their village against evil.

Monk (Diablo 3/Diablo Immortal)

Diablo 3 Monk
Monks could introduce new styles of combat to Diablo 4 dynamic.

Diablo 4 has a strange relationship with the holy order that tries to defend Sanctuary. A Monk could be an interesting appearance as a DLCs since they could introduce new styles of hand-to-hand combat and roleplay as outcasts that are trying to get the real story behind Lilith’s appearance.

Witch Doctor (Diablo 3)

Diablo 3 Witch Doctor
Diablo 4 has a few quests regarding Witch Doctors, although they aren’t a playable class.

Witch Doctors were a popular option in Diablo 3 since they could channel the powers of Voodoo to summon spirits and undead creatures to create a macabre army. Although its mechanics were like a combination of the skills of Necromancers and Druids, there’s a region in Sanctuary’s map that perfectly fits Witch Doctor’s background.

Demon Hunter (Diablo 3/Diablo Immortal)

This class is popular for its versatility and could fight well against Diablo 4 Helltides.

The Demon Hunter grew popular in Diablo 3 for being a combination of the Assassin and Rogue classes. Capable of dual-wielding crossbows and casting shadow magic, it’s possible that Blizzard won’t miss the dynamic that Demon Hunters could introduce to Diablo 4.

Warrior (Diablo 1)

Barbarian class in Diablo 4
Barbarians in Diablo 4 were heavily inspired by the Warrior class.

The Warrior was the standard melee class in the original Diablo, which was an interesting option when the story usually fits spell-casting characters. From a character class point of view, the Warrior has been replaced by other classes like the Barbarian, the Paladin, and the Crusader, although a return of a character with simpler specs could fit into the Diablo 4 narrative.

What about a new character class for Diablo 4?

Diablo 4 Father Inarius
Diablo 4 DLC could add a class that already inhabits the world of Sanctuary.

Every Diablo game has introduced new types of characters, except for Diablo 4. Diablo 2 and 3 even had some classes that were inspired by the classics but were upgraded into an entirely new class. While fans of Diablo 4 might feel nostalgic and would want to know which classes will come back, there’s a chance that a completely new class could be added in future updates.

Diablo 4 DLC might even include classes from groups that inhabit Sanctuary’s world. We might even have the opportunity to play as an Angel or Demon for the first time, especially considering the complicated relationships between Heaven and Hell in this edition and the pre-release official artwork reference. Whatever decision Blizzard make, it will surely be announced after the release of Season of the Malignant.
