The Renown system in Diablo 4 rewards you for exploring the Sanctuary, and here’s everything that you need to know about it, ranging from rewards to tiers.

The Sanctuary is a huge place in Diablo 4, and exploring it can be a tiresome task. While the campaign ensures that you explore a major portion of the map, the Renown system rewards you for finding every point of interest, including side quests.

To help you get bonus skill points and potion charges, here’s everything to know about the Renown system in Diablo 4.

What is Renown in Diablo 4?

Renown is a gameplay system in Diablo 4 that rewards you with Gold, Skill Points, and XP for completely exploring the five regions, namely: Fractured Peaks, Hawezar, Scosglen, Dry Steppes, and Kehjistan, in the Sanctuary.

While you don’t need to use this Renown to purchase anything, the rewards are unlocked once you collect certain amounts of it.

Renown is regional, so exploring one region won’t give you Renown for another area. For example, if you’ve explored a significant portion of Hawezar, then you’ll get Renown Points for Hawezar only.

How to get Renown in Diablo 4

You can get Renown in Diablo 4 by completing these challenges:

  • All regional waypoints: 20 Renown
  • All regional Strongholds: 100 Renown
  • All regional Side Quests: 30 Renown
  • All areas discovered in the region: 5 Renown
  • All side Dungeons in the region cleared: 40 Renown
  • All Altars of Lilith in the region discovered: 10 Renown

How to check your Renown progress in Diablo 4

To check your Renown in Diablo 4, open the map and press the button/prompt saying ‘View Rewards‘ on the right side of the checklist that is at the top of the screen.

Doing so will display the Renown progress you’ve made in the region you’re currently in, and Renown systems for new regions only unlock after you’ve visited them at least once.

Renown tiers in Diablo 4 and their rewards

There are five Renown tiers in Diablo 4 and you can unlock them after collecting a certain amount of Renown. The rewards you get from these tiers include:

  • Tier 1 – Collect 200 Renown to get Bonus XP, 330 Gold, and one Skill Point.
  • Tier 2 – Collect 300 Renown (Total 500) to get Bonus XP, 330 Gold, and an extra Potion Charge.
  • Tier 3 – Collect 400 Renown (Total 900) to get Bonus XP, 25,000 Gold, and one Skill Point.
  • Tier 4 (required World Tier 3 unlock) – Collect 400 Renown (Total 1300) to get Bonus XP, 60,000 Gold, and 80 Max Obols.
  • Tier 5 (requires World Tier 3 unlock) – Collect 500 Renown (Total 1800) to get Bonus XP, 150,000 Gold, and 4 Paragon Points.

You need to complete different milestones to progress through different Renown tiers.

Your Renown collection is account-wide, so all your characters will be able to collect the rewards even if you’ve just created them. However, the final two reward tiers will only open up once your characters hit World Tier 3.
