Diablo 3 classes offer a variety of gameplay styles and abilities, ranging from the savage Barbarians to the agile Demon Hunters and the arcane Wizards, each with its own unique skills, weapons, and armor. So here’s a quick rundown of all the classes and characters in Diablo 3.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 3 is a popular action role-playing game that features various different classes of characters. Each class comes with its own unique skills, abilities, and play styles. Whether you prefer to slash, shoot, summon, or cast spells, there is a class for you in Diablo 3.

The classes in Diablo 3 are divided into two categories: the original classes that were available at launch, and the new classes that were added later through expansions. Each class has its own story, background, and role in the game’s lore.

Here are all the classes in Diablo 3.

How many classes are there in Diablo 3?

There are a total of 7 classes in Diablo 3. However, not all of them were available from the start. When the game first came out, it only had five classes, similar to its previous versions. The other two classes were introduced later through expansion packs.

Diablo 3 class & character list

Below are all the classes and their characters in Diablo 3 along with their abilities.

Barbarian

Barbarian class in Diablo 3
The male Barbarian was voiced by Dorian Harewood and the female by Athena Karkanis.

If you enjoy slicing your foes with a large axe and wearing little armor to flaunt your muscles, the Barbarian is the ideal class for you. They accumulate ‘Fury’ in combat by dealing and taking damage, which enables them to launch powerful attacks, and they can wield bigger weapons than other classes.

Barbarians are fearless warriors who thrive on the thrill of battle and the glory of victory. They can also use their rage to unleash devastating shouts that boost their allies or weaken their enemies.

Demon Hunter

Demon Hunter class in Diablo 3
The Demon Hunter is the first class to ever use two resources to fuel their abilities.

Using ranged weapons, magic, and traps to combat the forces of evil, the Demon Hunter is a class that looks like a metal album cover that came to life. They depend on their agility and like to stay away from their enemies.

The Hunter class also controls two resources: Hatred and Discipline which power their offensive abilities and defensive abilities. Demon Hunters are relentless vigilantes who have sworn to eradicate all demons from the world. They can also use their skills to vault, tumble, or cloak themselves in shadows to evade danger.

Monk

Monk class in Diablo 3
Both the male and female versions of the Monk speak with a Slavic accent.

Whether they use weapons or their own hands, the Monk is a class that can deal devastating blows in the game. The Monk’s skills and discipline are very enjoyable to use if you enjoy fighting in melee range with the enemy – just make sure you have enough Spirit to evade.

Monks are holy warriors who channel the power of the divine through their bodies and minds. They can also use their spirit to heal themselves or their allies or to unleash elemental forces that harm their foes.

Witch Doctor

Witch Doctor class in Diablo 3
The female Witch Doctor wears a brass neck coil, just like the long-necked Kayan people.

Combining the Monk’s mysticism and the Necromancer’s skill for summoning creepy creatures, the Witch Doctor is a class that is rarely seen alone. They travel with pets – bats, spiders, zombies, and other nasty things and can weaken enemies, but they can also kill them by themselves.

However, unlike the Wizard, Mana doesn’t recover very fast, so resources need to be managed carefully. Witch Doctors are primal spellcasters who draw upon the power of nature and the spirits of their ancestors. They can also use their mana to curse, hex, or horrify their enemies, or to transform themselves into fearsome beasts.

Crusader

Crusader class in Diablo 3
The astral armor tier of Crusaders is visually similar to the armor equipped by angelic troops.

The Crusader is a class in Diablo 3 is a class that can both dish out and take a lot of damage. They have a massive shield that can smash enemies as well as block their attacks and a brutal flail that can break bones.

Crusaders don’t show much mercy for anyone who stands in their way and are righteous zealots who follow a sacred code of honor and justice. They can also use their faith to bless themselves or their allies or to smite their enemies with holy wrath.

Wizard

Wizard class in Diablo 3
Their quest log during the Caverns of Araneae questline suggests that the Wizard is afraid of spiders.

The Wizard class in Diablo 3 is not the least powerful, but it does not belong to the stronger classes either. While the name may imply images of Gandalf and Dumbledore, these magic users are experts in destruction – whether using fire, lightning, ice, or wind.

Arcane Power replenishes quickly, meaning Wizards can usually be found at the front of the attack, throwing fireballs and freezing enemies solid. Oh, and did we mention they also have a sword? Wizards also have swords. These are not ordinary blades, but enchanted weapons making them formidable foes in melee combat as well as at range.

Necromancer

Necromancer class in Diablo 3
The Tier 5 Normal armor of the Necromancers is a remake of the Diablo II Necromancer armor design.

The Necromancer was added to Diablo 3 later, but it fits the game very well. Able to raise the dead and command them to fight, don’t be deceived by their dark appearance – they’re strong on their own.

With proper management of their Essence, players can summon a horde of the undead to attack their enemies while casting spells to maintain the advantage. The Necromancer can also manipulate the life force of their foes, draining their health or cursing them with various effects.
