Underrated Warzone 2 rifle outshines meta SMGs at close-range

Warzone 2’s close-range meta is extremely competitive in Season 3, and CoD guru WhosImmortal has revealed the forgotten Assault Rifle that can overpower all of them to become a “phenomenal” Sniper Support choice.

The Warzone 2 Season 3 update shook up the meta once again introducing two new weapons in the Cronen Squall and the Intervention, along with a ton of buffs and nerfs to the existing lineup of guns.

With the Lachmann Sub and Vaznev-9k both being hit with nerfs, the close-range meta has been blown wide open, leaving many wondering which is the best weapon to pair with their new one-shot Sniper Rifle.

Luckily, Warzone 2 expert WhosImmortal claims that an underrated Assault Rifle has all the movement benefits of an SMG but with even more power.

In his May 3 video, the YouTuber explained that the Kastov-74u has what it takes to be a “dominant” close to mid-range weapon due to its impressive bullet velocity, allowing it to outgun some of the best SMGs in that category.

“This thing is a phenomenal choice, [it’s] great for Sniper support and, much like the Chimera, can be built to match the speed of some of the SMGs but outpower them in several different areas,” WhosImmortal said.

Despite these outstanding attributes, the AR has a pick rate of just 0.6% according to WZ Ranked. However, WhosImmortal urged players not to sleep on it, and shared his best Kastov-74u loadout for Warzone 2 Season 3.

Barrel: BR209 Barrel
Laser: FSS OLE-V Laser
Stock: Markeev R7 Stock
Rear Grip: Demo-X2 Grip
Magazine: 45-Round Mag

WhosImmortal began his best Warzone 2 Kastov-74u loadout with the BR209 Barrel, which buffs the AR’s movement and ADS speeds. He combined this with the FSS OLE-V Laser and Markeev R7 Stock, further improving the ADS and sprint-to-fire speeds to ensure it’s always quick on the draw.

Next, he added the Demo-X2 Grip, drastically improving the Kastov-74u’s recoil control, keeping it on target in mid-range fights. Finally, he went for 45 Round Mags so that players can deal with multiple enemies before reloading.

WhosImmortal went on to explain that he “loves the feel” of this Katov-74u build, and it would be the ideal partner for the Intervention or MCPR-300 in Warzone 2 Season 3.
