Underrated Warzone 2 Assault Rifle outguns best SMGs with faster TTK

The Warzone 2 SMG meta is one of the most competitive, but CoD guru WhosImmortal has revealed the mostly forgotten Assault Rifle that has a faster close-range time-to-kill than all of them.

Warzone 2‘s close-range meta is one of the most hotly-contested in the entire game. Since the nerfs to the Fennec 45 and KV Broadside, a number of SMGs have stepped up to partner Al Mazrah’s best Sniper Rifles and LMGs.

In Season 2 Reloaded, the likes of the Lachmann Sub and Vaznev-9k have become the go-to choices, but there are a number of less popular options that can still do the business.

In fact, Warzone 2 expert WhosImmortal has revealed that the “off-meta” STB 556 Assault Rifle outguns the game’s best SMGs in close to mid-range fights.

In his April 8 video, the YouTuber compared the STB 556 to four of the most popular SMGs in Warzone 2; the Vaznev, VEL 46, Lachmann Sub, and BAS-P, and the results were extremely surprising.

He found that the STB was very competitive up to around 12 meters, before becoming the fastest-killing of the bunch from 15 to around 48 meters. Its TTK didn’t dip under 900ms until around the 50-meter mark, while most of its rivals fell off closer to 30 meters.

“The STB 556 is a widely practical SMG/AR hybrid when built for speed and aggression,” WhosImmortal explained, before going on to call it the “king” of the close-range meta.

WhosImmortal explained that his Warzone 2 STB 556 loadout is focused on making the AR as “aggressive” as possible, so he began with the 16.5″ Bruen S901 Barrel and VLK LZR 7MW to improve its ADS and sprint-to-fire speeds.

He also added the FTAC C11 Riser alongside the Bruen Q900 Grip for more speed and mobility buffs, allowing the STB to be quick off the mark in every fight and make full use of its rapid TTK.

Lastly, the YouTuber went for the Cronen Mini Pro, but explained that players that are comfortable with the Assault Rifle’s iron sight could easily switch this for 42 Round Mags instead.

With this setup, players will be able to take full advantage of the STB 556’s impressive TTK, while making up for some of its natural mobility shortcomings compared to SMGs. If you’re looking for a new close-range option ahead of Warzone 2 Season 3, give it a try in your next match.
