Kingdra is one of the most unconventional Dragon types in Pokemon Go due to its superb type combination, unique evolution methods, and unpredictability in battles.

How to evolve Horsea into Kingdra

You can evolve Horsea to Seadra with 25 Candy, and then into Kingdra with 100 Candy and an item called Dragon Scale.

Horsea is a common spawn in the wild, available more widely in Rainy in-game weather. You’ll be glad to know that its spawns will be boosted during the Aquatic Paradise event, starting from July 6, 2024, and running until July 9, 2024. This gives you an excellent opportunity to collect the required Candy quickly.

How to get Dragon Scale

• By spinning PokeStops and Gyms
• By opening the Research Breakthrough Box obtained after completing Field Research tasks for seven days.

Keep in mind that you are not guaranteed to get this rare item from either of the two methods so you’ll have to keep trying multiple times.

Best PvP moves

Dragon Breath paired with Outrage and Octazooka is Kingdra’s best PvP moveset.

Dragon Breath is one of the best Fast Moves in the Go Battle League (GBL). Kingdra gains STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) on this move due to its Water/Dragon type combo, making it all the more threatening.

With quick energy generation from Dragon Breath Kingdra can use Octazooka to bait shields. That’s not all, as this Charged Move has a 50% chance to debuff the target’s Defense by two stages, turning the tide in your favor.

Towards the end of the battle, the deadly Outrage is Kingdra’s go-to move to nuke its target, so use it when your opponent no longer has shields.

Remember that Kingdra is not weak to Ice types like other Dragons, nor is it weak to Electric and Grass types like other Water Pokemon. It only needs to be wary of other Dragons and Fairy-type attacks.

One handy tip to keep in mind is that it also resists Steel types, giving it a unique niche as a Dragon-type attacker in PvP, especially the Ultra League where it is at its best.

Best PvE moves

The pair of Waterfall and Hydro Pump is Kingdra’s best PvE moveset.

Its average stats don’t help it in Raids, where it’s outclassed by several other Legendary and Pseudo Legendary Dragon types.

While the situation isn’t too different as a Water type, lacking weakness to Electric and Grass types makes it a good pick with the added benefit of a powerful moveset.

Yes, shiny Kingdra is available and you can get it by evolving a shiny Horsea.
