Genshin Impact has gained tremendous popularity but the community has been complaining about its ever-increasing size lately. If you’ve ever wondered how much storage Genshin Impact takes on mobile and PC, this guide will help you.

Genshin Impact offers a rich open-world experience to its players and every six weeks, a new content update adds more characters, events, quests, and regions, among other things. While new content is highly desirable, it also leads to a substantial increase in the game’s overall size.

Genshin Impact has a massive mobile community and thanks to its outrageous storage requirements, many players have been unable to enjoy it fairly. Even high-end devices struggle to deliver constant FPS and the situation worsens when players do not have enough storage.

If you have similar concerns, read this article and know about the space that Genshin Impact takes on mobile and PC.

Genshin Impact version 3.0 storage requirements on PC

Following the release of Sumeru in the 3.0 update, Genshin Impact takes up 53.1 GB of data on PC. The number can be slightly different for players depending upon the audio packs they’ve downloaded, but the overall size will most likely be close to 50 GB.

The official website states that players should have 40 GB of reserved space to download the game on PC but the number has changed drastically with the latest update. The community has reported that the disk space requirement as of September 2022 is 64.5 GB.

Genshin Impact version 3.0 storage requirements on mobile (Android & iOS)

Genshin Impact version 3.0 takes up over 20 GB of data on Android and iOS devices. Two years ago, the storage required to run the game smoothly on mobile devices used to be 10 GB and it has doubled already.

The official website still suggests Android users to have 10 GB of reserved space but this is most likely because it hasn’t been updated yet.

How to reduce Genshin Impact size on PC and mobile

The only way through which you can effectively reduce Genshin Impact’s size on PC and mobile is by deleting unused audio packs.

Follow these steps to delete unused voice-over packs in Genshin Impact:

  1. Launch Genshin Impact and open the Paimon Menu.
  2. Go to in-game Settings > Language > Manage Voice-Over Language
  3. The menu will display the current audio packs that you’ve downloaded.
  4. Keep one voice-over pack that you use and uninstall the rest.

With this method, you can significantly reduce the game’s overall size as every pack takes up to 8-9 GB of space.

Other methods like clearing cache on mobile do work but to be fair, the reduction in size will be minimal. The developers might need to come up with better solutions or a large chunk of the player base will be compelled to uninstall Genshin Impact sooner or later.
