Honkai Star Rail players might not see eye to eye with Sampo, but he can be an interesting ally if he has the correct build. Here’s everything you need to know to build Sampo with the best Light Cone, Relic set, and teammates in HSR.

Sampo Koski is a character Honkai Star Rail players meet very early in the game while exploring Belobog and its different areas. He’s a mercenary who’s always trying to make a profit with intricate scams. Although he saves the heroes on a few occasions, he always seems to have ulterior motives, like any other Masked Fool. However, he can prove to be a great ally thanks to his abilities in battle.

If you pulled Sampo through Honkai Star Rail’s gacha system, here’s how to build him with the best Light Cone, Relic sets, and team members.

Sampo’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail explained

Sampo is a four-star Honkai Star Rail Wind element character in the Path of The Nihility. Characters in this Path specialize in applying debuffs and weakening enemies with their abilities. Sampo is boosted in the second phase of update 2.0 in Sparkle and Jing Yuan’s banner, but you can pull him anytime from permanent banners or even pick him as a reward in some limited-time events as well.

Here are all of Sampo’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail:

Dazzling Blades (Basic attack) – Deals Wind DMG to a targeted enemy.
Ricochet Love (Skill) – Deals Wind DMG to a single enemy, and then deals an additional DMG four extra times to a random enemy.
Surprise Present (Ultimate) – Deals Wind DMG to all enemies and has a 100% base chance to increase the targets’ DoT taken for two turns.
Windtorn Dagger (Talent) – Sampo’s attacks have a 65% base chance to inflict Wind Shear for three turns. Enemies inflicted with it will take Wind DoT at the beginning of each turn. What’s more, Wind Shear can stack up to five times.
Shining Bright (Technique) – After Sampo uses his Technique, enemies in a set area are inflicted with Blind for 10 seconds. Blinded enemies cannot detect your team. Additionally, when initiating combat against a Blinded enemy, there is a 100% chance to delay all enemies’ actions.

If you want to make use of Sampo’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail, you should focus on increasing his ATK and Effect Hit Rate, so he can deal more damage and apply Wind Shear to enemies. Additionally, enhancing his SPD and Energy Regen can help you as well to make Sampo participate in battle more often and spam his Ultimate whenever he can.

While Sampo isn’t the best Wind character in the game, you can still give him proper use by improving these stats. Picking teammates who can take advantage of his abilities is also key, but we’ll get to that later on.

Best Relics for Sampo in Honkai Star Rail

Eagle of Twilight Line

Two-piece bonus: Increases Wind DMG by 10%.
Four-piece bonus: After the wearer uses Ultimate, their action is Advanced Forward by 25%.

Eagle of Twilight Line is the go-to Relic set for Wind element characters. After increasing Sampo’s Wind DMG for his Basic ATK, Skill, and Ultimate, you can advance his actions forward with a four-piece set. This relic set works very well, considering Sampo’s abilities, so you should try to get it when you can.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat

Two-piece bonus: ATK increases by 10%.
Four-piece bonus: The wearer’s SPD increases by 6% and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.

Since Musketeer of Wild Wheat is the easiest Relic set to get in the game, you can also try it with Sampo. It focuses on improving the character’s damage output and it’s the default Relic set for almost all characters. Many Sampo experts like to combine the Eagle of Twilight Line two-piece set with the Musketeer of Wild Wheat two-piece set to improve Sampo’s overall DMG output.

Best Planar Ornament for Sampo in Honkai Star Rail

Pan-Galactic Commercial Enterprise is the ideal Planar Ornament for Sampo in Honkai Star Rail. This set increases Sampo’s Effect Hit Rate by 10% while also increasing his ATK up to a maximum of 25%. It can’t get much better than that for Sampo, so you should definitely try to get this Planar Ornament.

On the other hand, Space Sealing Station is a good alternative for DPS characters. This set increases Sampo’s ATK by 12% and then by an additional 12% when his SPD reaches 120 or higher.

If you have trouble getting these Planar Ornaments, you can also try Broken Keel to increase Sampo’s Effect RES or Inert Salsotto to improve his CRIT Rate and his Ultimate DMG.

Best Light Cone for Sampo in Honkai Star Rail

In the Name of the World

For Honkai Star Rail characters in the Path of The Nihility, Welt‘s Light Cone is the safest bet. This five-star Light Cone increases the wearer’s DMG to debuffed enemies for starters. Then, when the wearer uses their Skill, the Effect Hit Rate for this attack increases. Lastly, their ATK also increases up to 40%, making it the ideal Light Cone for Sampo.

Eyes of the Prey

Of course, Sampo’s own four-star Light Cone works great with the character. Eyes of the Prey increase the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate and DoT by different but very good amounts. It’s a tailor-made Light Cone for Sampo that can improve his best stats in battle.

Fermata

One of Kafka‘s Light Cones also enhances some of Sampo’s best stats. Fermata increases Break Effect dealt by Sampo, and it also increases his DMG to enemies afflicted with Shock or Wind Shear. Since these effects also apply to DoT, it’s a very good option for Sampo.

Sampo is always looking for new ways of making easy money.

Best Honkai Star Rail teams for Sampo

While Sampo can be a DPS in your Honkai Star Rail team, you should pair him with other characters that can deal damage and take advantage of DoT buffs. Of course, you should round your team up with a healer to keep everyone in one piece.

Serval is one of Sampo’s best partners. Both characters have abilities that deal DoT and can apply powerful effects on opponents for most of the battle. If you’re looking for a free-to-play team, Natasha can be your healer. Of course, if you have the chance, Luocha or Bailu can fill that spot as well.

You can get a support character, like Asta or Yukong, to improve some of the team stats to make Serval and Sampo unstoppable. Alternatively, you can add another DPS character that can apply buffs to allies or debuffs to enemies, like Kafka or Hook. Lastly, Black Swan is a great character to pair with other Nihility units, so keep that in mind.
