Season 1 of Diablo 4 has brought a lot of new gameplay mechanics, including the Invoker of Varshan and its Foul and Tormented versions. Here’s how to obtain the Foul & Tormented Invokers of Varshan to get the strongest Malignant Hearts for your build in Diablo 4

One of the main goals of Diablo 4 Season 1 is to defeat the Malignant enemies that are scattered across Sanctuary. You can encounter many of them in Nightmare Dungeons, Malignant Tunnels, and other locations. To capture their hearts, you have to kill them twice, and this is also true for the new Varshan boss.

The Invoker of Varshan is a unique item that Diablo 4 Season 1 added to distinguish Varshan from other Malignant enemies. It is similar to the other Invokers in the game, but you have to unlock the recipe to craft it first.

How to get the Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4

Complete the Diablo 4 Season 1 questline by defeating Varshan alongside Cormond to obtain the recipe for the Invoker of Varshan. Once you’ve obtained the recipe, head to any of Cormond’s Workbenches spread throughout Sanctuary and craft it.

It is important to note that the Invoker of Varshan only works in World Tier 1 and 2 and it is not recommended to progress to World Tier 3 without using it.

How to use the Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4

Follow these steps to use the Invoker of Varshan and summon the boss in Diablo 4:

Go to one of the Malignant Tunnels on the map.
While you clear the tunnel, look for a hidden gate with a padlock. It might not be available in all Malignant Tunnels so you can try out different dungeons until you find such a gate.
Interact with the Malignant Pustule in the tunnel. This will consume your Invoker of Varshan and the boss will appear.
Fight and defeat the boss to get exciting Malignant rewards and loot.

How to get and use the Foul Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4

You must defeat the Echo of Varshan boss in World Tier 1 or 2 during Diablo 4 Season 1 by using the Invoker of Varshan to obtain the recipe for the Foul Invoker of Varshan. Once you get the recipe, head to one of Cormond’s Workbenches and craft the item with Ichor and Demon Hearts.

The Foul Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4 only works in World Tier 3 and the procedure to use it is the same as the Invoker of Varshan. Just head to the secret room in the Malignant Tunnel and interact with the Pustule to summon the Foul version of the boss.

Crafting recipe for the Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4 Season 1

The standard Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4 Season 1 only works in World Tiers 1 and 2.

How to get and use the Tormented Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4

You must defeat Varshan in World Tier 3 to obtain the recipe for the Tormented Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4 Season 1. After obtaining the recipe, go to one of Cormond’s Workbenches in the game again and craft the Invoker.

Using the Tormented Invoker in Diablo 4 Season 1 is the same as other Invokers but do note that it only works in World Tier 4. You’ll find the secret room in the Malignant Tunnels and interacting with the Malignant Pustule should summon the toughest version of the boss.

Complete Diablo 4 Season 1 questline > obtain and use Invoker of Varshan at World Tier 1/2 > obtain and use Foul Invoker of Varshan at World Tier 3 > obtain and use the Tormented Invoker of Varshan at World Tier 4.

While the standard Invoker of Varshan helps in summoning the weakest version of Varshan, the Tormented Invoker can be used to summon the most powerful version of the boss.

Invoker of Varshan – 1x Brutal Malignant Invoker + 1x Vicious Malignant Invoker + 1x Devious Malignant Invoker + 1x Demon’s Heart + 1,000 Gold
Foul Invoker of Varshan – 1x Invoker of Varshan + x50 Sigil Powder (obtained by clearing Nightmare Dungeons)
Tormented Invoker of Varshan – 1x Invoker of Varshan + 5x Forgotten Souls + 5x Fiend Roses (both the items obtained through Helltides)
