The announcement of the brand-new Adventure Effects mechanic in Pokemon Go has fans excited, but a few players have pointed out that the upcoming feature may not be as good as it appears.

The Sinnoh Tour 2024 event in Pokemon Go is right around the corner and this eagerly-awaited extravaganza brings new Pokemon, Dialga Origin and Palkia Origin, to Raids alongside their signature moves.

That’s not all as Pokemon Go is all set to introduce a new game mechanic called ‘Adventure Effects‘ that is activated when trainers use the signature moves of these two Legendaries alongside Candy and Stardust, unlocking attractive bonuses for a certain amount of time.

When Dialga Origin uses Roar of Time, it increases the time certain items last, such as Incenses, Star Piece, and Lucky Egg. On the other hand, when Palkia Origin uses Spacial Rend, it increases the encounter distance of Pokemon.

Though both sets of bonuses sound great on paper, players aren’t convinced they’re as “worthwhile” as they seem to be.

After Reddit user ‘gfox446’ posted a screengrab of the official Pokemon Go blog post highlighting the Adventure Effects mechanic and wrote: “This is actually cool!!” several users took to the comment section with a different view on the addition.

Commenting on the bonuses, a fan stated: “Very costly for 6 minutes. Trainer Tips Nick calculated it out. It’ll be 1.2 million dust and 1200 candy to use the Adventure function for a whole day. Yay to whales (money spenders)… Useless to everyone else. I mean maybe using it for 6 minutes a day is fine but that’s pretty much it.”

Trainer Tips is a well-known Pokemon Go YouTuber and their insight made users slam the bonuses. “For Dialga, the timer freezing is nice but expensive. For Palkia – double spawn radius just doesn’t feel worthwhile,” a user mentioned.

Another added: “I mean are you going to put 1200 candy into a 24 hour incense? And 1.2 million dust? I think that’s stupid.”

A fan also emphasized how the Candy requirement of Legendaries is grueling. “Lost me at triggering the effects with CANDY for a Legendary. 20km for an extremely mid barely noticeable buff? No.”

As you wait for the Sinnoh Tour 2024 event, you can try getting some rare species such as Frigibax and Larvesta in Pokemon Go.
