Larvesta is one the rarest and most sought-after finds in Pokemon Go, and players are desperate to add this Gen 5 icon and its evolution, Volcarona, to their collection.

So, here’s everything you need to know to get Larvesta, including details on its evolution and shiny odds.

How to catch Larvesta in Pokemon Go

You can get Larvesta by hatching it from 2 km, 5 km, or 10 km Eggs. Keep in mind that it isn’t available from 5km and 10km Eggs obtained as Adventure Sync rewards.

Larvesta can’t be found in the wild and its hatch rate is extremely low, making it one of the hardest Pokemon to get out of the entire pool, along with Frigibax.

You’ll enjoy better odds of grabbing Larvesta during the Scorching Steps event, running until June 25, 2024, with 1/3rd chances of hatching from 10km Eggs.

How to evolve Larvesta into Volcarona

You need to spend 400 Larvesta Candy to evolve it into Volcarona.

While it’s a simple evolution method, the difficulty lies in Larvesta’s availability so you need to hatch plenty of Eggs to get those 400 Candies.

Since using Pinap Berries isn’t an option to catch Larvesta, the only useful tip to speed the process up is to set it as your Buddy. Unfortunately, this Pokemon has a 5km walking distance to get one Candy, which is very uncommon for a species with a 400 Candy evolution.

Can Larvesta be shiny?

Yes, shiny Larvesta is available in Pokemon Go, debuting during the Scorching Steps event.

Scorching Steps offers a 1/2 hatch distance bonus, so it’s a great idea to put Eggs obtained during the event in normal and Super Incubators, both available in the Pokemon Go Shop for 150 and 200 PokeCoins.
