Larvesta and Volcarona are two of the rarest and most sought-after species in Pokemon Go, so here’s all you need to know to get Larvesta in Pokemon Go, how to evolve it, and if its shiny version is up for grabs.

Pokemon Go boasts species from all nine generations, but some of them are tougher to get than others. Since its debut, Larvesta has become one of the rarest species in the game, so many are wondering how to get the elusive Pokemon.

Here’s everything you need to know on how to get Larvesta, including how to evolve it into Volcarona and its shiny odds.

How to get Larvesta in Pokemon Go

You can get Larvesta in Pokemon Go by hatching it from 2 km, 5 km, or 10 km Eggs. Unfortunately, hatching an Egg doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get Larvesta right away. Additionally, you should note that Larvesta isn’t available in 5km and 10km Eggs obtained as Adventure Sync rewards.

Larvesta can’t be found in the wild, isn’t headlining any Raids, and isn’t part of the Field or Special Research rewards. On top of that, the hatch rate is extremely low, making it one of the hardest Pokemon to get out of the entire pool, along with Frigibax.

You’ll get better chances to hatch Larvesta during the Scorching Steps event that runs from June 21 to June 25.

How to evolve Larvesta into Volcarona in Pokemon Go

Players need to spend 400 Larvesta Candy to evolve it into Volcarona in Pokemon Go. While it’s a simple evolution method, the difficulty lies in Larvesta’s availability. Players need to hatch a lot of Eggs to get those 400 Candies.

Since using Pinap Berries isn’t an option to catch Larvesta, the only useful tip to speed the process up is to set Larvesta as your Buddy. Unfortunately, Larvesta needs to walk 5 km to get one Candy, which is very uncommon for a species with a 400 Candy evolution.

Can Larvesta & Volcarona be shiny in Pokemon Go?

Shiny Larvesta and shiny Volcarona will debut in Pokemon Go on June 21, 2024, during the Scorching Steps event.

We’ll make sure to update this section once we know the odds of hatching a shiny Larvesta from Eggs.
