Pokemon Go players baffled as Mewtwo seems to be spawning in the wild
NianticMewtwo is not supposed to be a wild spawn in Pokemon Go but a fan seems to have encountered one. But in a shocking twist, he promises that it wasn’t Zorua and others feel that something is up in the mobile game.
The Psychic Spectacular 2023 event has set the Pokemon Go community abuzz by featuring several Psychic-type species in Raids, Collection Challenges, Research quests, and in the wild. But if there’s one Pokemon that no one expects to find in the wild, it’s the Legendary Mewtwo.
Right now, the only way to ‘spot’ a Legendary in the wild is either the Galarian Bird trio, the Lake Guardians, or if a wild Zorua takes the disguise of your Legendary Buddy Pokemon.
So when a Reddit user made a post about coming across a wild Mewtwo without having one as a Buddy, many were left scratching their heads and were baffled by the turn of events.
Pokemon Go players think Mewtwo may be in the wild
When Reddit user ‘f_ckthisname’ shared a post that showed a failed wild Mewtwo encounter in Pokemon Go, several users were quick to jump in and mention that it was “obviously Zorua.”
But there’s a huge catch here because the OP claims that the Buddy Pokemon was Kyogre and not Mewtwo.
Adding fuel to the speculation of a wild Mewtwo were comments by other players who seemed to have experienced the same in their friends list.
“Someone on my friends list showed they caught a Mewtwo earlier. So I think it was a wild Mewtwo,” said one reply.
Another player added a similar comment: “I saw someone in my friends list catch a Mewtwo. It wasn’t a Zorua and it was in the wild.”
One user was sure that the spawn was indeed a Mewtwo as they wrote, “You are correct about that being a Mewtwo. And, I send my condolences, to your loss of such a rare and powerful Pokemon.”
The OP stressed the fact that Kyogre had been the Buddy for more than a week but most players were convinced that it was a Zorua.
A couple of comments included, “Your character didn’t know that it wasn’t a Mewtwo so it showed up as Mewtwo in the journal” as well as: “Zorua doesn’t lose its disguise until you catch it… OP did not catch, thus it didn’t show up as a Zorua.”
NianticUltimately one comment seemed to give a reasonable answer to the OP’s dilemma:
“Has Kyogre been your buddy full-time for the last week or do you change buddies multiple times a day to level up whilst keeping Kyogre on for the majority of the time? Either way, I think it’s best for your sanity to pretend this was Zorua, I’ve had it glitch before where Zorua has spawned as my buddy a couple of days prior.”
Whether it was really a Mewtwo or just a Zorua in disguise, there are claims to support both options as “the plot thickens.”
But if Mewtwo is available in the wild for the Psychic Spectacular 2023 event, it would be huge for the Pokemon Go community.
