Pokemon Go’s 7th Anniversary is almost here and players can celebrate the special ocassion with a new in-game event. Here’s everything you need to know about the 7th Anniversary Party, including costumed Pokemon debuts, the new Masterwork Research, and more.

Pokemon Go players have a lot to do in the Hidden Gems season and a new event is coming soon to celebrate the game’s seventh anniversary. A month before players can share Pokemon Go Fest 2023 in three different cities, the anniversary party will take place in-game for players all around the world.

The new event has interesting debuts and Raids you won’t want to miss, so here’s everything you need to know about Pokemon Go’s 7th Anniversary Party event.

Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event dates

The Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event will run from Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 10 AM to Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 8 PM (local time).

Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event debuts

The Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event will add two new highly-requested costumed Pokemon to the game. Players will be able to catch Wartortle wearing a party hat and Blastoise wearing a party hat during the event.

Of course, players that already have a Squirtle wearing a party hat can spend Squirtle Candy to obtain both debuts.

Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event wild encounters

The Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event will highlight starter Pokemon and some fan-favorite creatures. The following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild for the whole duration of the event:

  • Squirtle wearing a party hat
  • Pikachu wearing a cake hat
  • Meowth
  • Ponyta
  • Togedemaru
  • Galarian Ponyta
  • Absol

Additionally, the following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild on specific days:

July 6

  • Bulbasaur wearing a party hat
  • Charmander wearing a party hat
  • Squirtle wearing a party hat

July 7

  • Chikorita
  • Cyndaquill
  • Totodile

July 8

  • Treecko
  • Torchic
  • Mudkip

July 9

  • Turtwig
  • Chimchar
  • Piplup

July 10

  • Snivy
  • Tepig

July 11

Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event shiny Mew Masterwork Research

Pokemon Go players will be able to get the All-in-One #151 Masterwork Research story during the 7th Anniversary Party event. For $5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), players can get shiny Mew by completing all tasks. This Masterwork Research story will be available to purchase until Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 8 PM (local time), and players can’t gift it to other trainers.

Do note that this is the same Research players could purchase during the Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto from 2021. If you’ve already purchased that one, you won’t be able to get a second one. However, you’ll be able to enjoy the following bonuses:

  • 2x Incense duration
  • 2x Daily Adventure Incense duration
  • 2x Lure Module Duration

Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event Field & Timed Research

In addition to the Masterwork Research, Pokemon Go players will also get event-themed Field Research tasks to complete. Trainers that spin PokeStops during the 7th Anniversary Party event will get Field Research tasks with different rewards, including encounters with starter Pokemon and Mega Energy.

Trainers can also get a new Ticketed Timed Research for $2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Completing the event-themed research tasks around hatching Eggs and evolving Pokemon will reward players with the following:

  • 1x Incubator
  • 1x Super Incubator
  • 1x Premium Battle Pass
  • 1x Lucky Egg
  • 1x Rocket Radar
  • 1x Star Piece
  • 1x Incense
  • 77,777 XP
  • An encounter with Pikachu wearing a party hat

Do note that players need to complete all quests and claim all rewards before the 7th Anniversary Party event ends. This Timed Research can be gifted.

Mega Raids

Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event bonuses

These bonuses will be active during the Pokemon Go 7th Anniversary Party event:

  • Increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends.
  • Increased chance of Pokemon becoming Lucky through trades.
  • Chance of finding 7,77—or more!—Gimmighoul Coins when you spin a PokeStop with a Golden Lure Module.
  • July 6: 2x XP for catching Pokemon.
  • July 7: 2x Stardust for catching Pokemon.
  • July 8: 2x Candy for catching Pokemon.
  • July 9: 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator on this day.
  • July 10: Friendship levels will increase twice as fast.
  • July 11: 2x Candy for transferring Pokemon.
  • July 12: 2x XP for evolving Pokemon.
