Pokemon Scarlet Violet DLC

DLC remains a relatively new concept for the Pokemon franchise and many players have been wondering if additional content is going to arrive in Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet became the fastest-selling game of the storied franchise following its November release. Trainers continue to test their skills in 2023 as the Paldea region offers a ton to explore.

Despite the three main story paths and additional content like the Ranked Battle Stadium, Pokemon fans are always looking forward to what’s next. Sword and Shield were the first games to deliver Pokemon DLC and many fans are wondering if Scarlet and Violet will also receive the DLC treatment.

Here’s everything we know about Scarlet and Violet DLC so far.

Is DLC coming to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

At the moment there’s no official confirmation of DLC coming to Scarlet and Violet. Most fans remain hopeful given that Sword and Shield received a two-part DLC via an Expansion Pass.

Much like Scarlet and Violet, Sword and Shield also launched in November, with the announcement of DLC revealed at a Nintendo Direct the following January. While there’s no upcoming Nintendo Direct showcase scheduled, players remain eager for an announcement.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC hints

Pokemon Scarlet Violet map

Scarlet and Violet certainly have a ton of secrets and mysteries that would make for excellent DLC content. Players have already begun to guess what a possible Scarlet and Violet DLC would entail.

For starters, there are several inaccessible portions of the Paldea map that have generated a ton of interest. Portions like the one you can see in the image above are clearly hinting at new areas that players could eventually discover.

Some have gone as far as to speculate that this portion in the Northeast section of Paldea is actually a DLC version of Kalos from Pokemon X & Y. We’ll keep you posted, but if a DLC is on the way it’ll likely explore new storylines, characters, and Pokemon, instead of revisiting previous chapters.

Along with the geographic hints, there are interesting books in Scarlet and Violet’s Academy libraries that reveal an unknown Paradox Pokemon. This strange Pokemon does not appear in Scarlet and Violet, yet its description is found in the game, which could hint at a DLC appearance.

The mysterious text reads: “While separated from the research team in the crater’s depths, I found a strange…entity. Whether it was a Pokemon, or even alive at all, I know not. It bore a shell with layers of overlapping hexagons, and gleamed brighter still than gemstone. Viewed as a whole, it resembled a mysterious, brilliant disk.”

Expected price for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC

The expected price for a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC is around $30. This was the price that Pokemon fans paid for the Sword and Shield Expansion Pass.

The Expansion Pass delivered a two-part bonus that was released a couple of months apart, which spread out the new content for players.

In the past, players would have to pay the full cost of a brand-new game as the third entry of a Pokemon Generation like Platinum, Emerald, or Black and White 2.
