krookodile in the pokemon anime

The sneaky Krookodile is a powerful Pokemon to use in Scarlet and Violet battles, so here are its weaknesses, resistances, strengths, and best moves to help you earn plenty of victories.

Even after Scarlet and Violet introduced several powerful Pokemon in the meta, including the Paradox Pokemon, many popular picks from older Gens are game-changers, and one such species is Krookodile.

This Ground/Dark-type Pokemon from Gen 5 has always been a formidable addition to teams, so here are the weaknesses, resistances, strengths, and recommended moveset for Krookodile to help you master it.

Krookodile weaknesses explained in Pokemon

Krookodile is weak to Bug, Fairy, Fighting, Grass, Ice, and Water-type attacks in Pokemon.

Even though it has quite a handful of weaknesses, you can counter them by Terastallization. I’ve found the Poison Tera Type extremely reliable, with Dark being another great option.

If you don’t want to use Terastallization on Krookodile, it’s better to switch it out, as its bulk is only decent at best.

Krookodile resistances explained in Pokemon

Krookodile’s resistances include the Dark, Ghost, Poison, and Rock types and it is immune to Electric and Psychic-type attacks in Pokemon.

The immunity to Electric-type moves is a huge asset, as it lets Krookodile go face-to-face with OP Pokemon like Miraidon, Raging Bolt, and Regieleki, and brush off their STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) moves. These Electric Pokemon are a common sight in most teams, and Krookodile is really good at handling them.

Krookodile strengths explained in Pokemon

Krookodile uses its STAB Ground and Dark-type moves to deal super-effective damage to Electric, Fire, Ghost, Poison, Psychic, Rock, and Steel-type Pokemon.

This excellent coverage, backed by Krookodile’s 117 Attack stat, makes it a scary offensive threat. It also has some great abilities, including Intimidate, Moxie, and Anger Point.

Out of the three, Intimidate is the most useful, as it lowers the opponent’s Attack stat by one stage, letting Krookodile tank hits. But if you have other Intimidate users in your team, like Salamence or Gyarados, I’d recommend Moxie.

Moxie raises the Attack stat by one stage each time an opponent is knocked out. Even a single boost from this ability turns Krookodile into an unstoppable sweeper. Having a teammate like Rimbombee with Sticky Web or Tornadus Incarnate with Tailwind gives your Pokemon bonus Speed, making the job easier for Krookodile.

Anger Point raises Attack stat by a mind-boggling 12 stages when hit by a critical attack, but I’d suggest skipping it as it’s extremely random and situational.

Best Krookodile moves in Pokemon

The best moves for Krookodile in Pokemon are Bulk Up, Scale Shot, Earthquake, and Knock Off.

  • Bulk Up is a useful move that raises Attack and Defense by one stage, making it deadly in battle. I usually use it when Krookodile is up against a Pokemon whose attacks it resists or is immune to.
  • With Bulk Up done, you should use the Dragon-type multistrike move Scale Shot to deal damage and boost its Speed by 50%. Keep in mind that the Held Item Loaded Dice is necessary here to ensure Scale Shot hits four or five times and remember that it decreases Defense by one stage, but Gulk Up’s boost makes up for it.
  • Earthquake is mandatory on any Ground-type Pokemon and Krookodile can score several OHKOs with this powerful 100 base power move, once it’s boosted by Bulk Up.
  • Knock Off is an extremely handy 65 base power move that dishes out 50% more damage when the target is holding a Held Item and also removes it, halting their strategies. This has often helped me win matches out of the blue.

And there you have it! This is all you should know to ace Pokemon battles with Krookodile. If you’re interested in more guides like this, check out the following:
