Orthworm weaknesses in Pokemon explained

As a Steel-type Pokemon, Orthworm is weak to Fighting, Ground, and Fire-type attacks.

Orthworm boasts a Defense stat of 145, meaning it’s a great tank that can probably take a few super-effective hits with ease. However, it’s always recommended to equip it with a Tera Type that can resist some of its weaknesses to get an edge in battle.

On the other hand, if your Orthworm has the Earth Eater Ability, it won’t take damage from Ground-type attacks.

Orthworm resistances in Pokemon explained

Orthworm can resist Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves, and it’s immune to Poison-type attacks in Pokemon.

Steel-type Pokemon boasts the most resistances of any Pokemon type, which means you only have to worry about covering their few resistances.

Orthworm strengths in Pokemon explained

Orthworm can deal super-effective damage to Rock and Ice-type Pokemon with its Steel-type STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) moves.

It can also deal super-effective damage with some Rock and Ground-type moves it can learn by leveling up in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Rock-type attacks are super-effective against Flying, Bug, Fire, and Ice-type Pokemon, while Ground-type attacks are great for dealing with Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire, and Electric types.

Best Orthworm moves in Pokemon

The best moves for Orthworm in Pokemon are Body Press, Stealth Rock, Shed Tail, and Protect.

  • Body Press is a move that calculates the damage based on the Pokemon’s Defense instead of its Attack, which is ideal for Orthworm. Heavy Slam is a good alternative for this attack.
  • Stealth Rock punishes opponents that switch out of battle just like Spikes, another viable move for Orthworm.
  • Shed Tail makes Orthworm place a decoy by sacrificing part of its HP and then switches out with another teammate. The teammate that enters the battle will be protected by the decoy, so it’s great for strategizing.
  • Since Orthworm’s Special Defense isn’t great, Protect can help it overcome powerful attacks from special attackers. It’s also great for Raids and doubles, where you’ll want Orthworm as your tank/support.

Other viable attacks for Orthworm include Coil, which works great alongside Body Press, Iron Defense, Rock Slide, Rest, and Iron Tail.
