Paradox Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet explained

Paradox Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are brand-new Pokemon based on previously well-known Pokemon from other mainline games. Ancient Pokemon have a prehistoric look and can be found in Pokemon Scarlet, while Future Pokemon resemble robots and can be found in Pokemon Violet.

Players get to know these Pokemon through the Path of Legends in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, where they join Arven in finding Titan Pokemon. The Scarlet Book and the Violet Book contain illustrations of these Paradox Pokemon, gathered by researchers who visited Area Zero.

Paradox Pokemon are completely new Pokemon with different names, type combinations, and backgrounds, as well as different Pokedex numbers and entries. Although they resemble other Pokemon, they are not considered variants, regional forms, or evolutions.

How to get Paradox Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can find most Paradox Pokemon by exploring Area Zero, also known as The Great Crater of Paldea. This means you’ll need to finish the three main paths in the game and reach the end credits to find and catch them all.

Meanwhile, locating Paradox Pokemon that arrived with The Indigo Disk DLC requires players to complete a sidequest of filling their Blueberry Pokedex with 200 new entries. Perrin will then reveal the Area Zero locations of Raging Bolt, Gouging Fire, Iron Crown, and Iron Boulder, for Scarlet and Violet players respectively.

You can also look out for Paradox Pokemon to feature in Tera Raid Battles, such as the Walking Wake and Iron Leaves events that arrived in the past. Currently, Walking Wake and Iron Leaves are available in raids until January 7, 2024.

Since Paradox Pokemon are version-exclusives, the only way to get Ancient Pokemon in Pokemon Violet is by trading. The same can be said for Future Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet.
