Players can get the Mythical Mew in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but given that you can’t find this rare Pokemon in the wild, it’s not easy to obtain. Here are all the details on how to get a free Mew in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Mew is one of the few Mythical Pokemon in the whole franchise, and it’s a rare find in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It was always a tricky Pokemon to unlock, but luckily, The Pokemon Company still provide some methods for players to get it.

If you own some of the past Pokemon games or a special controller for the Nintendo Switch, you might still have a chance to snatch a free Mew in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Is Mew Mystery Gift code active in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

No, Mew’s Mistery Gift code GETY0URMEW is no longer active and can’t be claimed anymore in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It was only available until Monday, September 18, 2023.

Luckily, you can still get a free Mew if you own Pokemon Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, or a Pokeball Plus controller with a Let’s Go series game.

How to get free Mew in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

If you have Pokemon Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, or Let’s Go in your Nintendo Switch files, you can still redeem a free Mew for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The catch is that this free Mew will appear outside of Scarlet and Violet, and you will need to transfer it to Scarlet and Violet using Pokemon HOME.

For the Let’s Go method, you will need to own a brand-new Pokeball Plus controller, and by linking it to the game and the save file you will get Mew in the Let’s Go games. If you own the Pokeball-like controller, you will need to follow these steps to obtain the Mythical Pokemon:

Press and hold the control stick button on the Pokeball Plus controller for a few seconds.
If it lights up with a pink or purple color, it means that it has a Mew inside.
Launch Let’s Go with the Pokeball Plus as your controller, enter the in-game menu, and select Communicate.
Select Mystery Gift, and then select Get with a Pokeball Plus. This option will only appear if you are using the Pokeball Plus controller.
You will see a message that says: “A Pokemon is in your Pokeball Plus. It’s a present for you!” Tap “Yes” twice to connect to the Internet and receive the Pokemon.
Your brand-new Mew will be waiting for you in the Pokemon Box, and you can use Pokemon HOME to transfer it to Scarlet and Violet.

If you own Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl and have Let’s Go save data, when you get to Floaroma Town a lady will hand you a brand-new level 5 Mew. You can also transfer this Mew to Pokemon HOME and then to Scarlet and Violet.
