Wondering how to get the Locked Diary in MW3 Zombies? Here are all the details you need, including what the Locked Diary does in Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies mode.

MW3 Season 1 didn’t just bring new content to multiplayer and Warzone, but the update also brought a massive refresh to Zombies, the extraction-based third mode for Modern Warfare 3 that many have grown to become very fond of.

The mode was given a bunch of new content for Season 1, including a new Wonder Weapon and Story Mission that involves the Dark Aether Rifts. The mission is called Bad Signal, and if you’re trying to re-enter the Dark Aether after completing it, you’ll need the Locked Diary.

So, with that said, here’s how you can get and use the Locked Diary in MW3 Zombies.

What is the Locked Diary in MW3 Zombies?

The Locked Diary is one of the four key items you will need to find to re-enter the Dark Aether Rift after completing the Bad Signal Mission. The mission is your first experience with the MW3 Zombies Dark Aether Rift zone, but to get back into the playable area you’ll need the following items:

  • Dog Collar
  • Locked Diary
  • Pill Bottle
  • Surveillance Camera

How to get & use the Locked Diary in MW3 Zombies

You will get the Locked Diary after completing the Bad Signal Mission, as once you defeat the boss Gorm’gant, a Reward Rift will pop up with the Locked Diary inside. You then need to use the Locked Diary by placing it on the pedestal with the Cryo Freeze logo in the red High Threat Zone.

Check out the image below for the location of the pedestal you need to place the Locked Diary.

Here’s where you will need to place the Locked Diary in MW3 Zombies.

MW3 Zombies Dark Aether Rift pedestals

At this location, you will find four pedestals with the different ammo mod elements on them: Cryo Freeze, Brain Rot, Dead Wire, and Napalm Burst. Once you place the Locked Diary on the Cryo pedestal, you will need to place the other key items on their corresponding pedestals, which are as follows:

  • Dog Collar – Napalm Burst
  • Locked Diary – Cryo Freeze
  • Pill Bottle – Brain Rot
  • Surveillance Camera – Dead Wire

Once you place these items on their correct pedestals, you will have a tough fight to deal with, so make sure you’re geared up. Once completed, you’ll be rewarded with a sigil that opens the Dark Aether Rift. This sigil is a one-time use item, but you can get more by completing Tier 3 Contracts.

Well, there you have it, that was everything you need to know about the Locked Diary, as well as how to use it in MW3 Zombies. For more, check out:
