If you’re wondering whether Wuthering Wave is free-to-play or if you’ll have to cough out dollars to play the title, here is everything you need to know.

Making its long-anticipated debut on May 22, Wuthering Waves is a massive open-world RPG that shares a lot in common with HoYoverse’s billion-dollar hit Genshin Impact — anime aesthetics, colorful cast, and whatnot.

Genshin Impact is free-to-play and gacha, so here’s whether Kuro Games’ upcoming RPG has followed suit.

Is Wuthering Waves free-to-play?

Yes, Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play title and will be available for free on all platforms. Most of the content that’ll be added in the future, like expansions and story content, will likely remain free as well.

Wuthering Waves will first launch on PC (via Epic Games) and mobile (Android and iOS), with a PlayStation 4 and 5 launch slated for a later date.

Is Wuthering Waves a gacha game?

Yes, Wuthering Waves is a gacha game, so expect a similar banner system and premium currency like Stellar Jade and Primogems.

At launch, Wuthering Waves will have 17 characters and plenty of weapons spread across two limited banners (weapon and character), two standard permanent banners (weapon and character), and a novice banner for new players that lasts for 50 pulls.

It is the second game developed by Kuro Games, and their first title, Punishing: Gray Raven, was also free-to-play gacha so it isn’t surprising that they’re following the same model with Wuthering Waves.

That’s everything you need to know about the game being free-to-play and gacha. For more on some of the other upcoming blockbusters, check out:
