The Division Heartland: Release date window, PvEvP gameplay, platforms, more

Ever since the success of The Division and its sequel, Ubisoft are putting special focus on the franchise. Alongside the mobile game, the standalone Division Heartland appeared on the Ubisoft Store for a short while, so here’s everything we know including the release date window, gameplay, and platforms.

Ubisoft announced The Division Heartland all the way back in May 2021, but have kept the game under wraps ever since. The devs continued to support The Division 2 and announced Resurgence, a AAA mobile game set in the same universe, and it seems The Division Heartland is finally on the horizon.

The Division Heartland appeared on Ubisoft’s store page before being taken down, revealing even more details about the upcoming shooter. Here’s everything we know, including its gameplay, release date window, platforms, and free-to-play status.

What is The Division Heartland? Gameplay & features

Officially, The Division Heartland is a standalone game set in the Division Universe, but the leaked store page confirms it’s an Escape from Tarkov-esque PvEvP survival shooter.

It’s described as a “survival action shooter set in small-town Middle America,” where players take part in “45-player PvEvP Storm Operations against a group of dangerous Rogue agents, an aggressive faction known as the Vultures, all while surviving a lethal virus.”

There’s also a PVE-only mode, where players must “gather gear, activate alerts, and prep the battlefield in Excursion Operations.”

The Division Heartland is also set to have Hero shooter mechanics, where you can “play as one of six agents and select between three classes each match, all with their own perks and skills.”

The Division Heartland release date window

Ubisoft said back in May 2021 that the Division Heartland would be “made available in 2021-22,” and their leaked store page suggested the game is “coming soon.”

It’s entirely possible that “coming soon” was just a placeholder, but some fans are expecting the game to have a surprise drop alongside the Ubisoft Forward event on September 10. But, a release date announcement at the event is probably more likely.

The Division Heartland platforms

Thanks to The Division Heartland’s Playtest Signup page, we know that the game has been developed for PC via Ubisoft connect, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

The devs also confirmed that The Division Heartland would be available via Cloud as well.

The Division 2

Is the Division Heartland free to play?

Ubisoft confirmed back in their May 2021 blog that The Division Heartland will be free to play, and the leaked Ubisoft store listing also states the game will be completely free.

The extraction shooter genre continues to grow after the major success of Escape from Tarkov, and October 28’s Modern Warfare 2 is set to have its own take on the genre, DMZ, so you can check out the leaked map and how to watch the multiplayer reveal.
