During the Xbox Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2023, Ubisoft unveiled Star Wars Outlaws, a new game that developers Massive Entertainment have been working on in the Star Wars universe. Ubisoft also showed ten minutes of its gameplay to fans all over the world.

Lucasfilm’s Star Wars is one of the most beloved franchises in both movies and gaming. With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor having released this year, fans have even more to look forward to, as Star Wars Outlaws looks to bring an open-world gaming experience to the franchise.

Does Star Wars Outlaws have a release date?

As of now, Star Wars Outlaws has been slated for a 2024 release. While we don’t have a specific day or month, as soon as more information regarding a release date is revealed, we will be sure to update this section so stay tuned.

Star Wars Outlaws platforms

Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It seems as though Star Wars Outlaws will not be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

We also don’t have any details on whether the game will be featured on the Xbox Game Pass, but again, we will keep you updated as the devs release more information on the exciting Star Wars title.

Star Wars Outlaws story

Star Wars Outlaws is set in the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Players will get to step into the shoes of rogue Kay Vess, the game’s main character. Along with her sidekick, Nix, she will fight her way through the “galaxy’s crime syndicates” and attempt to pull off “one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen.”

During the course of the game, you’ll meet new characters such as Jaylen, who is inspired by the beloved Han Solo. Not only that, but you’ll also encounter familiar beasts and droids from the Star Wars franchise, such as Rancors, AT-ST, and IG-11 combat droids.

According to Douglas Reilly, Vice President of Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars Outlaws is the “first truly open-world Star Wars game.” It promises an action-adventure story teeming with characters and planets both new and well-known to the Star Wars galaxy​.

Star Wars Outlaws gameplay details

In terms of gameplay, players can expect an exhilarating third-person adventure with many possibilities. The gameplay trailer shown during the Ubisoft Forward presentation revealed Kay Vess infiltrating a building to steal an item. There, she used Nix’s abilities to remain in the shadows.

In the next segment, however, she escaped on a speeder bike while being chased by Stormtroopers. With other abilities focused on combat, the game showed two very different aspects of its gameplay. The video also revealed players will be able to make decisions during their adventure and just a bit of space travel to offer a complete package.

The open-world aspect of the game is still a mystery, but evidence suggests players will be able to explore different planets during their adventure. This probably means that there will be a lot of different biomes to visit and quests to complete.

Star Wars Outlaws trailers

The world was introduced to Star Wars Outlaws through its official World Premier trailer at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase event. The trailer set the tone for the game and gave fans a taste of what they can expect when it launches.

Another trailer premiered during the Ubisoft Forward 2023 event. With nothing but gameplay, the trailer left many Star Wars fans waiting for more of the first open-world game in the franchise.
