The Sea of Thieves PS5 closed beta is finally here, so here’s how you can try this game out early and get your hands on some platform-exclusive plunder before the rest of the world.

Although Sea of Thieves has been out for a while now on PC and Xbox, it’s only just going live for players on PS5. The game launches on April 30, but the developers are conducting a short closed beta test before they set sail for good.

So, here’s how you can join the Sea of Thieves closed beta and a list of all the rewards that you can earn in the game.

Sea of Thieves PS5 closed beta start & end dates

The Sea of Thieves PS5 closed beta will start on April 12 at 9 AM UTC / 2 AM PST / 5 AM EST and will conclude on April 15 9 AM UTC / 2 AM PST / 5 AM EST.

After this, the game won’t be available until the official PS5 launch on April 30, 2024.

How to play the Sea of Thieves PS5 closed beta

To play the Sea of Thieves closed beta on the PS5, you will have to pre-order the game. Although there are three variants of the game, purchasing any of the three will make you eligible to participate in the closed beta.

Yes, the progress you make during the Sea of Thieves PS5 closed beta will carry over when the game fully launches.

You will earn the following rewards if you participate in the PS5 Sea of Thieves closed beta:

  • Dauntless Adventurer Sails
  • Dauntless Adventurer title

Both these items are additional rewards along with the pre-order bonuses that you receive and are exclusive to the platform, so, you won’t be able to get these titles if you’re playing on PC or Xbox.
