The Fortnite map has undergone plenty of major changes over the years, but is the classic Chapter 1 island making a return? We’ll cover everything we know about the return of the original Fortnite map so far.

It’s an exciting time to be a Fortnite fan, after the 26.30 update kicked off the Fortnitemares 2023 event, bringing with it new weapons and some iconic character skins to look forward to. The map also received some spooky changes to fit the Halloween theme.

This isn’t the first time that the Fortnite map has received an overhaul, and rumors have begun circulating that the original island from Chapter 1 could be making a return in the future.

So, is the original Fortnite map coming back? Here’s everything we know so far.

Is the orignal Fortnite map returning?

Epic Games have revealed that the Fortnite Chapter 1 map will return for Chapter 4 Season 5. This was officially confirmed on October 27 in an X post, coming after weeks of leaks and teasers.

On October 10, the devs shared an image of Chapter 4 Season 4 villain Kado Thorn in front of a time machine, which at the time was the biggest hint yet that the game could be traveling back in time. The date listed on the device was July 12, 2018, the same day that Chapter 1 Season 5 began.

Players then began finding props from Chapter 1 around the current map, before the advertising boards on Mega City began showing the sky from the early days of Fortnite and playing the original lobby music.

When is the old map coming back in Fortnite?

The Fortnite Chapter 1 map will return on November 3 as part of the Chapter 4 Season 5 update, which appears to be titled “Fortnite OG.”

According to a leak from HYPEX, Chapter 4 Season 5 will see the map cycle through different Chapter 1 seasons for a month leading up to the infamous black hole. Then, a live event will reportedly take players back into the time machine and into Fortnite Chapter 5.
