The best way to farm Ascendant Shards in Destiny 2 is by playing Grandmaster Nightfall. It is difficult, but playing it has the highest chance of getting Ascendant Shards quickly.

For GM Nightfall, you can use the in-game LFG to find yourself a Fireteam based on your needs. You can also just wait for an easier Nightfall schedule, and if you get the basics right there with the correct mods, you should be fine.

If you want to strictly play solo, the other best way to complete Legend Lost Sector. They’re rotated daily (you can check its schedule in our weekly rest article), and clearing it has a chance for direct Ascendant Shards drop, otherwise it drops Prism that can be later traded to Rahool at Tower for Ascendant Shards.
