Destiny 2: What to do when max level

Destiny 2 does have a max level, and sometimes it can feel pointless to continue playing once you have hit it. Here is what to do when you’ve hit max level in Destiny 2.

Hitting max level in Destiny 2 purely means that you have hit the light level Bungie has set as the hard cap for the season. The Power Cap changes depending on the season, expansion, and new weapons and armor you gain through in-game events and missions.

Once you’ve reached the Power Cap, what is there to do? Often it feels like it’s pointless to continue playing because the grind is often focused on getting more powerful items to hit the max light level.

Luckily, there is still a lot to do after this happens. Here is what to do when you’ve hit the max light level in Destiny 2.

How to reach max level in Destiny 2

To reach max level in Destiny 2 you must earn items that incrementally increase your power rating until you reach the level cap.

Bungie increases the light level cap every few months, and currently, the hard cap is sitting at 1800, while the soft cap is sitting at 1750. You can also hit 1810 power level, but it takes a lot more specific grinding to do so.

Once you have reached the soft cap, you’re going to need to earn Powerful Gear rewards from weekly milestones and activities. These activities can be found in your Director, and reset to help you continue the grind and get more powerful.

Once you’ve hit 1800, you can further your power by earning Pinnacle Gear from the most challenging activities Destiny 2 has on offer. A lot of players opt in for this, because the higher your power level, the more damage you do and the more damage you can take.

What happens once you’ve peaked at 1810?

What to do after reaching max level in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 players can take part in a lot of activities after they have hit the power cap. While 1810 is currently the most powerful you can get, the idea of hitting the cap remains a goal throughout the game.

Once you’ve hit the cap, it doesn’t mean that you have to stop playing. In fact, getting to 1810 will take up a lot of your time in the first place. Getting Pinnacle Gear can only be done through some of the most challenging activities like raids, Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and weekly Dungeons.

It is also possible to increase your power level past 1810 by leveling your Seasonal Artifact. You level up your artifact by gaining XP, and the best way to gain that XP is by completing challenges.

Destiny 2 has seasonal, weekly, and daily challenges that give players the opportunity to earn items and gain XP. While weekly and daily challenges keep the game fresh, seasonal challenges are what you’re going to want to focus on if you want the giant XP boost.

Once you have reached max power, you can also turn your attention to Master Nightfalls and Master Lost Sectors. These activities are only really possible if you are at max level, which means Destiny 2 has kept in mind that there are players who will reach max level before the Season ends or the power cap changes.

It is important to keep in mind that these late-game activities are extremely challenging and your power level will probably not grow as quickly as you’d like. Destiny 2’s leveling has always been this way, and it means that players who reach max level quickly have more content on their hands so they don’t have to stop playing until the next update.
