Thorn Hand Cannon in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Season of the Wish has fulfilled the requests of many players and provided a Catalyst for the fan-favorite Thorn Hand Cannon. If you’re looking to upgrade this classic Crucible weapon, here’s how to get the Thorn Catalyst in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Season of the Wish is the last pit stop before the highly anticipated The Final Shape expansion. The latest season comes with new seasonal weapons and armor, including Destiny 1’s Dragon Breath Exotic.

Speaking of weapons, Season of the Wish brings with it a catalyst for the Thorn Hand Cannon. The Hive weapon had been a staple in the arsenal of Crucible players since its introduction in Season 6. It fell out of the meta over time, leading to demands for a Catalyst for the weapon.

Fortunately, Bungie heard the calls, and the Thorn Catalyst can now be obtained by players. So here’s how to get the Thorn Catalyst in Destiny 2.

How to get Thorn Catalyst in Destiny 2

The Thorn Catalyst in Destiny 2 drops after completing Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit matches.

This means that you’ll have to grind through Ritual Playlists and complete Strikes, PvP, and Gambit matches in order to get the Thorn Catalyst. When the Catalyst will drop for you is entirely luck-based, as Bungie haven’t provided a drop rate for it.

It’s important to note that the Thorn Catalyst does not drop after completing seasonal activities such as Riven’s Lair or The Coil.

What does the Thorn Catalyst do in Destiny 2?

The Thorn Catalyst provides the following effects to the Hand Cannon in Destiny 2:

  • Range (+20) and Stability (+10).
  • Dealing a Final Blow or absorbing a Remnant grants additional weapons range, as well as increased mobility and handling for a short time.

The Thorn Catalyst grants some excellent bonuses to the weapon and makes it even more viable for Crucible matches. The range buff in particular enhances its PvP capabilities.
