Modern Warfare 3 is inbound, and players are continuing to request features, including a classic Modern Warfare 2 (2009) attachment.

Modern Warfare 3 is set to pull on the heartstrings of veteran Call of Duty players with the return of every map from the classic Modern Warfare 2 (2009).

Players have been requesting remastered MW2 maps for some years now, and with Sledgehammer Games shifting the development focus to tailor the multiplayer experience more towards community-requested changes, the excitement is real for Modern Warfare 3.

Players have taken this new focus from the development team on board, offering some suggestions for features they feel should be in the game.

One classic MW2 feature that Reddit user MaximusMurkimus believes should also be included in Modern Warfare 3 is the Tactical Knife attachment, as they put a post up that said “this has to make a comeback.”

The Tactical Knife was an attachment for pistols in the original Modern Warfare 2 that allowed players to pull off a quicker melee when in close vicinity.

This attachment hasn’t returned since Call of Duty: WWII, but the OP believes it should be brought back in Modern Warfare 3 as either a “grip attachment or a Perk.” The Perk system is getting a remold in MW3, so perhaps we could see it included in the new Gear Perk system.

Others also agreed, with one comment that said “the tac knife is my fav, I so hope it comes back,” while another user commented “yes, and a handheld flashlight would be sick too.”

That said, some are open to the idea of it returning, but they hope that it doesn’t come with “an ungodly lunge,” which MW2 is notoriously known for thanks to the Commando Pro Perk which extended the melee reach.

We’ll have to wait and see, but the last time the Tactical Knife was seen was in Sledgehammer Games’ WWII, so perhaps they will do the same with MW3. Further, since the devs seem to be focused on bringing back old favorites from Modern Warfare 2, maybe this is one of the features they have in mind.

For the time being, make sure you check out everything we know about the Modern Warfare 3 campaign.
