Modern Warfare 3 players have been calling for the return of a classic game mode, and a dev’s response has hinted that they might get their wish.

Modern Warfare 3 features a ton of game modes, with more being added all the time. Season 2 Reloaded brought Bounty and Juggermosh, which followed the likes of Vortex in previous updates.

However, there are a number of fan-favorite playlists that are yet to appear. But, given that this year’s multiplayer brought back iconic maps, players are hoping that they will join War mode and make a comeback too.

Luckily, it seems like one classic game mode could be on its way back to the game, after a MW3 dev subtly teased it.

Reddit user ‘Eng11sh’ shared a thread asking the community: “If you guys could bring back anything from past Call of Duty’s to MWIII what would it be?” They went on to pick out Capture the Flag as their pick, which was last seen in Season 5 of MW2.

“For me I would choose Capture the Flag. I really miss that mode and think it would be so fun to play on MWIII,” continued the OP.

A few hours later, an unnamed Sledgehammer Games dev simply replied with the ‘eyes’ emoji, hinting that Capture the Flag could be added to Modern Warfare 3 soon.

Plenty of other replies were delighted to hear that Capture the Flag could be returning, while some suggested more modes they’d like to see added in a future update.

“Demolition is the best game mode to ever have existed, no idea why they removed it,” said one reply, before another added: “Grind and Sabotage game modes….I still have dreams of playing Sabotage on Bog in COD4.”

While the dev didn’t give any clues as to when Capture the Flag would arrive in Modern Warfare 3, it seems it will be thrown into the mix sooner rather than later. The next major patch is the Season 3 update, expected on April 3, so this could be the most likely release date.
