Modern Warfare 3 players have not been pleased with the state of Killstreaks in multiplayer matches, calling for an alternative that has not featured in the franchise since Modern Warfare 2019.

Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 brought two additional Killstreaks to the game, bringing the grand total to a whopping 25 options to choose from. Despite the variety, players have called Modern Warfare 3 Killstreaks useless calling for changes to make them worth using.

Aside from Killstreak buffs, some players have also pointed to the absence of a forgotten feature that hasn’t been seen in a CoD title since Modern Warfare 2019. According to players, the lack of the Specialist feature isn’t helping the situation.

In Modern Warfare 2019, the Specialist Perk or Specialist Bonus would allow you to swap your three Killstreaks for three additional Perks as the reward for getting kills. Essentially, racking up kills could allow you to play with six Perks active, until the next time you die.

Given the poor state of Killstreaks, the Reddit post above questions where the fan-favorite feature has been for the past few years: “I really want specialist back. Much more enjoyable than the neutered killstreaks we have now.”

It seems players agree that they’d love to see the feature return in MW3, for the added focus it brings to gameplay in multiplayer matches: “Specialist was amazing in MW19, once the perks in your streaks tab turned red it felt really good and you practically locked in.”

Despite the calls to see the feature return at some point in MW3’s cycle, others were less optimistic that the Specialist option could fit in the current meta.

The major worry that players seemed to have is the imbalance between the Killstreaks and the Specialist Bonus, if it were to arrive: “It would be op in MWIII since most of killstreaks are now s*it for their ‘prices.’ Additional perks would be so much better that people will select Specialist in droves.”

It remains to be seen if the devs decide to bring the Specialist feature to MW3 in a future update, but we’ll be sure to share any updates as they arrive.
