Modern Warfare 3: Every MW2 2009 map remastered at launch

Sledgehammer Games have officially revealed every original MW2 2009 map that will be featured at launch and shared a first look at their remastered versions. Here are all of the Modern Warfare 3 maps that have been confirmed for launch.

Modern Warfare 3 is set to arrive later this year on November 10. MW3 will act as a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2 (2022), marking the first time that two Call of Duty games within the same saga have been released back-to-back.

New details continue to emerge, with the devs teasing the return of slide canceling and leaks revealing a host of weapons that will feature in the sequel. Additionally, SHG have revealed the MW3 map roster for launch.

Here are all of the Modern Warfare 3 maps confirmed to arrive on day one.

All Modern Warfare 3 maps

Modern Warfare 3 will launch with remasters of all 16 maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009). This means the game will arrive with the following 16 6v6 maps:

In addition, the devs confirmed that four Battle Maps will also be part of the MW3 launch map roster.

Sledgehammer Games released an in-depth video showcasing the process behind modernizing all 16 MW2 (2009) maps for MW3 multiplayer, which aim to “capture the original feel of movement and gunplay while staying true to modern mechanics.”

During the video, Sledgehammer Games Art Director Matt Abbott and Design Director Zach Hodson shared their vision and objectives throughout the process of remastering MW2’s classics, stating they wanted to “make the best versions of the maps people have ever played.”

Furthermore, Call of Duty also shared that Modern Warfare 3 will receive three new 6v6 maps in Season 1 and an additional three new 6v6 maps in Season 2. These maps are part of the 12 multiplayer post-launch maps that have already been confirmed to be released.
