The developers have given players their first in-depth look at Warzone 2 Season 3, and the update is set to bring a brand-new Gulag to visit after death.

The Gulag is one of the key features that separates Warzone from battle royale rivals like Fortnite and Apex Legends, giving players the chance to rejoin the fight after death by winning a bite-sized fight again an enemy.

Warzone 2’s Gulag has undergone plenty of changes in Warzone 2 so far. After initially launching as a 2v2 battle, Season 2 reverted back to the 1v1 format from the original and did away with the Jailer.

Now, the Warzone 2 Season 3 roadmap has revealed a brand-new Gulag where players can fight it out for survival.

Once the Season 3 update goes live, defeated players will enter the Blacksite, not to be confused with Black Site Stronghold that appears on the regular Al Mazrah map.

Only a couple of images of the new Gulag have been released so far, but the Season 3 blog did give fans an idea of how the map will play.

The Blacksite features a much different layout from the original Warzone 2 Gulag.

It said: “A training ground for Operators wanting to return to the warzone, this roughly rectangular, asymmetrical map has several interior spaces and long external routes. This Blacksite Gulag’s current location is [[REDACTED]].”

The blog also revealed that Blacksite will appear as a Gunfight map in Modern Warfare 2 Season 3, meaning multiplayer fans will be able “learn its routes” by hopping into the 2v2 mode or a private match.

There was no mention of any further changes to the Gulag format Warzone 2 Season 3, so players can expect the capture the flag overtime mechanic and loadout pools featuring SMGs, Assault Rifles, and LMGs.

The new Blacksite Gulag arrives in Warzone 2 on April 12, alongside the Blackcell Battle Pass and Recruit A Friend feature.
