Modern Warfare 2 players feel they’re being “trolled” as missing classic maps shown off
ActivisionModern Warfare 2 players have been desperate for classic 2009 maps since the game launched, and a new piece of marketing has many feeling like they’re being “trolled.”
Modern Warfare 2 launched with a selection of 10 core maps for multiplayer fans to learn, alongside some bigger Ground Wars maps for huge-scale battles. The devs have built on these initial maps each season, with fan favorites like Shipment and Shoot House making a return.
However, despite sharing a name, there are currently no maps from Modern Warfare 2 2009 in the rotation, leaving many players feeling the devs are missing a trick.
Now, fans believe that Call of Duty are “toying” with them after a number of iconic Modern Warfare 2 maps appeared in marketing material.
The official Call of Duty Instagram account posted a video clip of a player rocking the recently added Intervention, cycling through the classic maps that feature in Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah as POIs as well as Pelayo’s Lighthouse from MW2 Season 3.
The clip shows off the updated versions of Estate, High Rise, Quarry, Afgan, and Terminal, along with the caption: “Time flies when you’re grinding IYKYK.”
However, the post has received plenty of backlash from the community, who are still waiting for these iconic maps to make their way into Modern Warfare 2. Reddit user ‘Bravo-Warpig’ shared the video, saying: “They’re literally trolling us at this point.”
Plenty of other players felt the same, arguing that the devs know they want throwback maps in Modern Warfare but still won’t add them.
“Such bulls**t we didn’t get any of these and now they’re just toying with us with this. What in the hell?” said one reply, with another agreeing: “You’re just taking the p**s at this point.”
Meanwhile, others responded calling for the devs to “just add these to multiplayer,” alongside other fan favorites such as Wasteland and Favela.
Ever since Modern Warfare 2 was revealed, fans have speculated that 2009 maps would be arriving later down the line. Only time will tell if the devs decide to add them in Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 or beyond.
