Modern Warfare 2 players call for new maps instead of “same old” playlists in Season 2
Modern Warfare 2 players are tired of revisiting the same old playlists and are calling for the developers to add brand-new game modes as well as maps ahead of the Season 2 update.
Now, the developers have teased the return of a fan-favorite playlist from Modern Warfare 2019, but players are hoping that Modern Warfare 2 sees the addition of brand-new maps and game modes.
On January 24, Infinity Ward started a poll on Twitter, asking fans to vote between three different playlists; Shoot the Ship, Shipment, and Shoothouse. At the time of writing, Shoot the Ship has received the most votes with 46% of players on the thread choosing it.
However, Reddit user ‘Lumenprotoplasma’ stated that they would rather see a new map than the return of a game mode from Modern Warfare 2019. They wrote: “No new maps? Do you guys want the same mode since 2019?”
This was a sentiment shared by other Modern Warfare 2 players in the thread, as they expressed their desire to see the addition of new maps and playlists. One of the commenters stated: “This community really wants the same old stuff huh. I want new maps.”
Another one added: “Facts. I’m tired of shoot house and shipment. Give us other maps.” Many players hoped that Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 will rectify this issue, as one user commented: “If there isn’t a minimum of two new maps in Season 2, I’ll rage with you!”
A few other players were less opposed to seeing the return of old maps but still called for the devs to add new ones as well. One player wrote: “I want the old MW2 maps and some newly made maps. I’m sick of playing the same small selection of maps. We need map variety.”
Playlists often come and go from the game, with Shipment 24/7’s removal infuriating players. According to leaks, the Gun Game, Gunfight, and Cranked modes will be included in Season 2. It remains to be seen what other playlists will be added to the game.
