Modern Warfare 2 devs tease return of Intervention Sniper & new Season 3 map
Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 will deliver the iconic Intervention Sniper Rifle, now known as the FJX Imperium. Here’s a teaser for the Season 3 weapon as well as a look at the new 6v6 map.
Fans of Modern Warfare 2 2009 can breathe a sigh of relief as it seems the rumors are true. The Call of Duty team took to Twitter to tease upcoming Season 3 content including the return of the Intervention Sniper Rifle as well as a first look at the new 6v6 map.
Modern Warfare 2 players have been crying out for more classic weapons from the 2009 title of the same name. The devs certainly did not hold back as the Intervention is viewed as one of the most iconic Call of Duty weapons of all time.
Infinity Ward invited Call of Duty content creator FaZe Dirty to their studio to test the new Season 3 weapon. While the weapon seen below is dubbed the FJX Imperium, players will recognize it as the Intervention.
Modern Warfare 2 FJX Imperium revealed
The new Sniper called the FJX Imperium will be available through the Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 Battle Pass. While testing out the weapon, FaZe Dirty was gushing over the homage to the Intervention: “It’s like nostalgic mixed with new, powerful. The feel of it, the way it scopes in feels really good.”
The teaser also showed footage of a new Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer map called Pelayo’s Lighthouse. This new map is a 6v6 terrain that is expected to arrive with the Season 3 update.
From the short glimpses of Pelayo’s Lighthouse, it seems the new map will focus on night-time combat with rainy weather conditions and heavy fog.
