Ubisoft’s XDefiant will bring a full year of content upon launch, so for those interested in what to expect, here’s the roadmap.

Ubisoft‘s free-to-play shooter XDefiant is set for a Summer 2023 release, and as players gear up for the FPS game’s launch, the devs are offering an open beta to allow players to get to grips with the Factions and weapons.

Despite only being a beta, the closed playtest back in April offered quite a lot of content, from multiple maps and modes to a large variety of guns and abilities.

The Ubisoft Forward livestream revealed the XDefiant dev’s plans for the game’s first year of content, revealing a roadmap with details on the seasons, new Factions, weapons, and more. If you’re interested in the full details of XDefiant’s Year 1 roadmap, here’s all the information.

XDefiant Year 1 roadmap

XDefiant’s first year is packed with a lot of content.

XDefiant seasons & battle pass

The first year of XDefiant will bring four seasons to the game, all with their own theme and content.

New seasons will introduce a new Faction and content such as new maps, weapons, and a fresh battle pass. XDefiant’s battle pass will be 90 tiers, bringing things like new cosmetics and more.

New Factions

Ubisoft have already unveiled the codenames for the Factions that will be introduced in the first four seasons of XDefiant: Ruby, Buzz, Orchard, and Horde.

While there’s not much to go on, we know that these Factions will be influenced by one of Ubisoft’s franchises, so who knows, perhaps we could see a Rainbow Six Siege or Assassin’s Creed-inspired Faction for one of these seasons.

New weapons & maps

Each season for XDefiant’s first year will bring three new weapons and three new maps. The new maps are said to be influenced by places from Ubisoft’s popular franchises, while the weapons will likely be modern guns that FPS players are familiar with.

Developer Mark Rubin stated that there will be a new map in XDefiant every month, giving players plenty of new locations to enjoy through the first year.

The roadmap also revealed new modes and features coming in XDefiant’s first year such as a ranked mode, private matches, caster cams, progression modes, practice zones for beginner players, and even “ongoing work to keep the competition fair.”

XDefiant pre-season content

The game’s “pre-season” launch in Summer 2023 will already feature 14 maps, 5 factions, 5 modes, and 24 weapons, so it’s very promising to see so much content in the game’s first year.

As we get closer to the first season, we’ll likely gain more information about the weapons and maps it will bring, so stay tuned on CharlieIntel as we’ll be covering it all.
