There is already a galaxy-worth of things to explore in Starfield, and there will be even more coming down the road as Bethesda have been working on the game’s first DLCs since release. Here’s everything we know about the Shattered Space DLC, including its potential release date.

With over 1,000 planets scattered around a literal galaxy, Starfield is easily Bethesda’s most ambitious game to date. It has a sizeable main campaign as well as plenty of other side content in optional missionsshipbuildingessential side quests, and much more.

Bethesda aren’t just stopping there, however, as they plan to expand the already ridiculously-sized universe of Starfield with more content through DLC. The first DLC has been confirmed with Shattered Space, so here’s everything known so far about it.

Is there a Starfield Shattered Space DLC release date?

Bethesda are yet to announce the Starfield Shattered Space DLC release date, but it will likely arrive in 2024. This is based on the blog post which mentions the DLC briefly, stating that “the team is hard at work on the development of Shattered Space, our first major expansion coming next year.”

If we go by past Bethesda releases such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim, whose DLCs were released six to eight months after their launch, we can expect the Starfield Shattered Space DLC to be released in March or May 2024.

However, this is just speculation for now, so we’ll be sure to update this section with more details once they are announced.

How to get Starfield Shattered Space DLC

Starfield players on Game Pass can get the Shattered Space DLC by upgrading to the Premium Edition for $34.99. Meanwhile, those who own a physical copy of Starfield will have to purchase the DLC on its own when it eventually launches.

Luckily, if you purchased the Premium Edition either digitally or physically or the Constellation Edition, you already have access to Shattered Space and will be able to play it at no extra cost.

Starfield Shattered Space DLC details so far

Little is known about the Starfield Shattered Space DLC at the time of writing, but Bethesda have confirmed that it will be a “story expansion.” This news was revealed through the Starfield Premium Edition, which includes the DLC for free.

Here are some of the speculations going around in the Starfield community in regards to the Shattered Space DLC:

  • House Va’ruun backstory: There are several significant factions in Starfield that are not fully explored in the main storyline. One such faction that could potentially see a significant expansion is House Va’ruun. Although it might seem far-fetched, their resurgence could disrupt the peace currently enjoyed by the Settled Systems.
  • Earth’s devastation explained: Shattered Space might be a potential DLC that transports you back in time to witness Earth’s devastation. This speculation is based on Victor Aiza’s invention of the Grav Drive, which unfortunately led to the collapse of the planet’s atmosphere.
  • Entering The Unity: The community has thoroughly delved into Starfield’s New Game Plus mode, and given the unpredictable and chaotic nature of the universe, it’s plausible that entering The Unity could result in a space fracture. It’s suggested that when you venture into New Game Plus, your existence is dispersed across the multiverse, which might support this theory.

We’ll have to wait until the Starfield Shattered Space DLC is officially revealed to find out exactly what fresh content Bethesda have planned. As soon as more details are announced, we’ll update this page with the latest information.
